After always getting kicked off computer by my dad cause he wants to use it thought it's about time I got myself a laptop. Just wondering if any of you out there could recommend any decent ones you know of that are out there on the market at the moment. If so what are they and what specs do they have?

hm...any brand is ok. just when you are buying computer, check out certain characteristics. price is the most, i think important. see your budget. maybe from this, you can get more details range of computer you want. then, check out for their processor, get the lattest, now it's core-duo pentium. then, see for RAM (get 1 gigg and above), hard disc space ( get above 80 gigg), speed (above 1.73 ghz), if possible dvd-writer. that's the simplest specifications for anyone.

The best laptop for me is DELL. DELL laptops are great, they offer great notebooks for a low price and great customer support. I specially like the Dell XPS line of notebooks, they are the hot rods of PC laptops. They’re amped up, ready to take on the biggest, most intensive computing tasks you can throw at them, specifically high-end gaming or media tasks. These laptops have big, widescreen LCDs for viewing high-definition content, built-in webcams, powerful graphics cards, and much much more. If you’re looking for a notebook that can be the focal point of your modern multimedia lifestyle, the XPS line should be able to handle it.

Well, if you are looking for cost-efficient laptops that have decent specs, you could try looking at Asus or Acer laptops. They have good prices on their middle-tier laptops. If price is not a concern, you could look at Toshiba or Dell laptops. I suggest you don't buy by model but buy by specs. For me, the minimum requirements for a laptop nowadays would be something like this:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
1GB RAM
120GB Hard drive
256MB Video Card (Optional)
DVD Super Combo Drive
The size of the laptop, bluetooth and other optional features would be up to you. If you have specs in mind, you could go out and canvass for prices.

well i think you should be going with dell!! its the best in market coz the quality that this brand laptop gives.. no other brand in the market gives that quality!
and i think dell xp is a good one!! i know this is quite costly., but still quality matters than quantity rite?
