Presidential Candidates in Danger?

I worry that some of our presidential candidates are biting off more than they can chew. I am not racist nor sexist, but I feel that our society is. I personally do not know if our society is ready for an African American president or a female vice, but I think it would provide a positive change in either case. However, there are still some radicals and just plain crazy people out there who do not agree. With this being such a huge change for our country, do any of you think these candidates would be in danger if they were elected? I'm sure the possibility has at least come up in conversation for Obama and Palin, and they obviously decided to take the chance, but how many of you actually think it's a possibility? After all, I really thought Bush would be assassinated when he was re-elected but he's still standing.
