hi
i think you shud really give him a surprise on the night before his birthday ie after 12:00 in the midnight, you shud not talk to him about that or give him any hint.If you have separate rooms, wait till he gets to bed in his room.in your room get everything ready like a good cake, his favourite gift, some good birthday music, candles, etc.at 1 minute to 12 in the midnight,if he has a cell, call him on it and tell him to come to your room citing some reason like u are not feeling well or some other reason.keep the door closed, when he opens it u can give him the surprise.

This is such a great idea! When my son turned 18, he didn't want to celebrate with his mom...he wanted to go out with his friends. We did a family dinner, but then he was gone.
I love this surprise idea. I may have to use it when my next one turns 18:)

Thanks for the idea. He has an ipod and a relatively new cell phone. He is still in school but he works part-time. It's funny that you would mention the bicycle because his dad teases him and tells him that is what he's geting him. He wants a car! LOL Thanks for all the ideas though I sppreciate it.

First i wanna say, happy birth day for your son. Today, your son to be a man and not only kids. Give him as a man with your love, share, and respectful. But, don't forget always teach him about responsibility with own life.

Thanks for the Happy Birhday! I'm not quite ready for the man thing yet. This is my only son that we overcome several obstacles to have. But I am happy for him.

LOL yeah I think we are supposed to learn from our mistakes so I'll steer clear of throwing the big keg party. Here's a thought see what you think. A bon fire and music playing (His friends all love their music)and just simple cake and ice cream, maybe roasted hot dogs. Too simple?
