video conversion software

I'm looking for softwares which can convert videos into formats which are playable in DVD players. Most of the files I have are .avi which I want to convert. Any suggestions?

I don't understand. You can burn any movie file you have on your computer to dvd and it will automatically play is dvd players. But if you're talking about software that converts multiple movie formats, then i recommend Total Video Converter.
