So about 2 days ago my mother went to goodwill & they are starting to do something everyday. For instance one day it might be girls clothes for a dollar, another day might be all yellow clothes for 50 cents...just examples. Well I don't think that they have a schedule for this, just everyday they have some kind of deal. I think you just have to go and see what they have going on that day. Well the day that my mom went, they had VHS for 25 cents. We still have a VCR in the living room. I have a DVD player in my room and then occasionally my sisters or my mom will watch DVD in the play station if I am in my room. My mom bought a few VHS tapes, she bought two movies that we haven't seen before. Terror Tract and high crimes are the two movies that she bought that we haven't seen before. I might watch one of them today. At first when I was looking at High Crimes I thought I had seen it before, but then after reading the back of it I don't think I have. It has Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman in it. I know I have seen a movie that has Ashely Judd and Morgan Freeman in it, but the description on the back sounds different. I think the one I am thinking of might be called Twisted. Does anyone know if them two play in that movie? She also bought some Christmas tapes to watch around Christmas time, and she bought one or two for my sister to give to her for Christmas. Later on that day she said that she thought people took some out of her buggy, because she said she thought she had more than she did. Even in the store she would look back and think she had more than she did. I wasn't with her and she couldn't remember what DVD and VHS we already have, so she was trying to think of which ones we already did have. Would you buy VHS for 25 cents?

Absolutely. At least a couple of times a month, I go shopping in the local charity shops (Is a goodwill the same thing?), looking for books, videos and DVDs. They all sell old VHS videos for 50p these days (about 75c in US money, I think). Videos aren't as good as DVDs, and you don't get the extra features, but if you want to watch a film cheaply, you can't say it's not good value for money.

I totally agree. I haven't watched either of the movies yet though! I will tomorrow probably, or some time soon. I love to watch movies. Goodwill is a little shop that you can go buy things for cheap but you can also donate things that you don't want anymore to them. I don't know if you would call that a charity shop or not. You don't get any money for donating or anything.

That's funny. It would be good. I didn't know so many people didn't have them anymore. The first person said they can't even find them to buy them. I guess I better hold on to ours like the first person told me to do so.

That would be a lot of movies, we have quite a few but there is no way we have all of the Disney movies. I didn't think I would ever buy VHS tapes again but for 25 cents I would, I mean that is only a quarter. Especially if I have never seen the movie before or it was a really good movie.

I would if I could find a VCR to buy. I already have a DVD player so I don't really want to buy one of those VCR/DVD combo units. I just want a regular VCR but I can't find one. My kids have a large collection of Disney movies on VHS that I've had since I was a kid and they can't watch them because I can't find a VCR. If you have one, hold onto it, because I think they're going to be almost impossible to get in the coming years. And the movie that came to mind when you mentioned Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman was "Kiss the Girls". It's pretty good.

Yes I have seen that movie, it was pretty good... I liked it. I think they play in more movies than I thought together. I think we have more than one VCR if I am not mistaken. We will probably never get rid of the VCR because like you we have tons of Disney VHS and other VHS tapes as well. Most of them are kid movies and my sister watches them all of the time. I have quite a few DVD's but most of them are mine. I have bought her a couple of DVD's.

My answer does not pertain to your story at all, but my answer is no, i would not buy a VHS for 25 cents, let alone take any if they were free. Reason being is I know longer own a VHS player because I trust my money in the DVD market. DVD's are smaller, better quality, more option for stop/play..etc. I do wish some movies that were on VHS would be produced on DVD, but most companies already made copies. Walt Disney sold just as many Cindarella DVD's as they did VHS. What a deal!!

Yeah, I think that DVD's are better quality... I have quite a few already. There was one time that I was buying them all of the time. Although I would buy a VHS for 25 cents. We already have a VCR so I could watch it.
