Have you played tops before? It's fun...

I used to play this game since childhood. It seems really difficult and near to impossible at first. But after relentless training and familiarization, I learned the technique to make it spin on the ground. As time pass, I finally manage to get it spinning on my palm! I have been watching friend doing it, and I feel that it's really cool. That's why I got the desire to master the skill. But after years, now I have lost the ability to make it spin again. I had showed my students how to play it. Although kids nowadays prefer playing computer and other electronics games, but my students showed some interest in this traditional game as well. I am relieved he had managed to make it spin as well, after weeks of efforts

Hi cheongyc, during my childhood Top is a very popular game in my place. Other than kites, marble, tik-tok-tiat and ... this is one of those traditional games which we liked to play frequently during those days. There were lots of funs to play with top with friends during childhood. I was not as skillful as you and could make the top to spin on my palm. I always felt content if I could make it to spin for a longer time on the ground. I was really happy and enjoyed watching it keep on spinning.
There are two ways to make the top to spin. The difficult one is for boy and the other is for girl. 
I know the easy one which is believed for girl to use it only. Of course, all the playmates would laugh at the boy if he used this method to spin the top.
I totally agree with you kids nowadays don’t pay much interest in these traditional games anymore. They always indulge in those computer games only during their free time. No wonder nowadays we could see so many computer game centers here and there.

Ya, I agree with you. Kids in the olden days play different games with kids nowadays. I missed all those games other than tops too (eg marbles, kites & etc). All this are healthy games, and they require very low cost. They do not have radiation or consume any power electricity. Besides, it encourage us to exercise our body. I hope parents nowadays should introduce these simple yet interesting games to their children. In such a way, they can enjoy good time with them, by playing the games they used to play.

Hi diansinta, jumping rope is a nice game too. But usually it played by girls. However, I did joined my girl classmates to play it as well 
. But I can feel that it's fun although I was not good at all. Hope you could settle down what's troubling your mind recently. Good luck and have nice day diansinta!

haha... I used to love playing tops once. But there comes new tecnology and somthing new.. so tops are lept away. Been long long time since i see kids playing with it. So miss the good old days. I lost mine long time ago. Haven't laid my hands on those for a long long time.

Glad to know that you know this game and had played it before. I afraid kids in future will not even know its existence 
. This is because there are way too many electronics and computer games to play with. And the parents nowadays could hardly spare time with their children, and share with them these good old games with them too. Today all the the computer games are derived from the traditional games of spin and do and what is more nothing but all the old things to repeat. Do you feel something sleepy when you are not responded by your grand children, how they can respond they are involved in the computer games.

That's right. Nowadays, a lot of thing had gone electronics and go cyber. Thanks to the technological advance in virtual reality and simulation, we could find all kinds of games, which suits our taste. Therefore, a lot of us had forgotten the traditional games we used to play. As a result, most of the kids nowadays do not have any idea how the traditional games is like.
