Do you share your mistakes with your children?

Like everyone else, I've made my mistakes also. And as parents, we don't want our children to make the same mistakes. So do we share with them our experiences in hopes that they will not make the same mistake? Or would they think "Mom and Dad did it and turned out okay, I should be okay, too?"

yes i do and all the time...i have always been outright honest with my children. if anything, it's because i would rather they hear it straight from the horse's mouth then from someone else....that way they get the facts right and formulate the right opinions...i explain and explain until they fully understand, that way they would learn from my mistakes and hopefully, they would avoid committing them... i just would pray till i die that my children will turn out to be good people...

My daughter is 5. When I have been wrong I often tell her so. I think I will share some of my mistakes. I would like her to veer away from certain situations. At the very least she will know I learned from mine, and hopefully not make the same one. But that will be for when she is older. Hopefully my honesty will foster the same in her and we could at the very least have open communication.
