Were you ever told... YOUR A GREAT LISTENER?

Do you know what made the person say this to you? Was it a close friend? Was it family? I know that when I was growing up everyone used to call me and ask me to "just listen" so I did, if they wanted advice afterwards I would give them my opinion and if they didnt I wouldnt say a word to them about what we just talked about. I have always listened with a kind ear though and never thought to myself that the person is always just looking for my advice and never there for me when I needed an ear. I have always made sure that I have helped out people regardless of what it was (unless it was illegal - they know not to come to me for that stuff) and I have heard many times that I am a great listener. Have you ever been told this by a lot of people? minimal people? friends? family? acquaintences? What was your experience with it? How did it make you feel to hear those words?

It's a great feeling. Love it. People say it without words most of the time.

Unfortunately, I am going to confess, I am not a good listener. So unfortunately, nobody has ever told me that I am a good listener. I think that many people think I am a good listener because I am good at faking listening. Many times I will be 1/2 listening to people while 1/2 thinking about other things.

That is one of my talents, and qualities being a good listener, people find me easy to confide in and also know that they can trust me implicitly and know that anything that is told to me in confidence will go no further. I feel priviledged when people take me into their confidence and I also feel a sense of worth as well knowing that I am seen as someone who is a good listener and it's true, I will listen good to people and if I can offer advice or help then I will gladly do so without being patronizing, it's a good skill to have and I pride myself on it and it makes me happy to hear other people say this.

YES!!! All the time. Simply because whether i want to or not. I believe that everyone should have a voice, and there should be people here on earth willingly to listen to what they have to say. No matter the circumstance to me....Good or Bad!! I will listen and listen fully to what you have to say. Hmmmm this discussion has me thinking....maybe i am majoring in the wrong field in college....LOL!! Thanks for this discussion...Take Care!!
