well it was a great movie. Vikram Bhatt’s horror movie 1920 doesn’t leave you zombied. But it does scare you enough to have a few sweaty, sleepless hours when you hit the bed at night.
The movie derives its title from the year it’s set in, when huge mansions (in present-day Yorkshire) stood tall on the suburbs of Mumbai and horse-drawn carriages plied on dusty grounds carrying dandy men in suits and women in Victorian gowns and hats. Sadly, there aren’t any buxom ladies in tight corsets here.
waiting for your views friends.

I found the film 1920 is not a very scary film but it has a few moments here and there that shock you. In the classic style, the story is very nicely interwoven with the horror element. The story unfolds with Arjun (Rajneesh Duggal) moving into a new house with his wife (Adah Sharma). And as expected, the house welcomes them with strange and spooky events all around. As the story progresses through these events we discover that the wife is possessed by a spirit -predictable fare, with the hero rescuing her by chanting Hanuman Chalisa in the end. What I really loved about the movie is the the screen play. The sepia tinted British Castle, the period look and feel of the movie. Amazing camera cinematography. And must say, Vikram Bhatt has improved a great deal. He is more subtle yet more strong this time. This movie is one of his best works. Newcomers Rajneesh and Adah are both very very impressive. Adah is particularly very good, she has the potential to strike big. Overall its a fairly watchable film.

ya that was indeed true for the movie. i do feel that the tings that were shown for the movie were perhaps for the first time shown on any indian movie. that is vivid narration in a horror movie. and also the simple ending was also really appreciable. thanks a lot for responding to my discussion. and i hope that more such nice movies are made in the bollywood. i think that bollywood is really lacking in quality cinema these days. and also the big budget movies are flopping.
have a good day at mylot.

there are more movies in bollywood that are quite famous and of the horror stock. for example did you like vastushastra. it was a great movie. once you see it your complete home setup will seem wrong. the lead was played by susmita sen. and i quite liked her role. then there are other movies like kaun and others.
have a great day.

hello parthajena,
thanks a lot for being in touch and responding to my discussion. well i definitely appreciate your choice of movies. i have seen both of the movies that you have mentioned of. vastu shastra was the movie that gave me night mares till a long after i have watched the movie. after tat i feared all the neat and clean houses and also the well maintained ones that had a tree beside them. and in kaun movie .... the suspense lasted till the last moment....
till the end no one was able to say that urmila was the killer herself.
anyways have a good day here at my lot. thanks for the reply and i hope that you will certainly remain in touch.

I like this movie. I usually never get scared of scary movies. But this one had a different story. The actors performed well too. I really liked the climax when the hero chants Hanuman Chalisa. That part was very exciting and touching. I think it a rare movie, since no hindi movie has shown this before. Most of the movies show that only tantriks can remove the ghost from the body. But by simply chanting Hanuman Chalisa with complete faith helped in driving away the bad spirit. Thisis what I liked the most. Moreover the actress in Victorian gown and hat really looked different. The mansion looked good too. Somehow the overall effect was appealing. So I really liked this movie. It was different. Vikram Bhatt did a good job.

hello,
well first of all thanks a lot for the response that you have given to my discussion and sorry that i took so much of time in responding to your discussion. well the simple part of the movie is the faith that he had through out his life..... that faith saved the life of his beloved and at the same time it was that faith that made him realize that all the faith that he had through out is life is the real faith and the life long devotion is something that wont go like nothing. it is good to find that you liked the movie very much.
have a very good day at mylot.

I haven't heard of this film. So it's a British film set in India, is that right?
What's it about?

hello dev21lucky,
ya i have also seen exorcist but have never thought that it may have drawn any kind of inspiration from that. but i think that after hearing from you, perhaps there are some similarities between the exorcist and 1920. and to talk of exorcist ... it was a great movie indeed and the plot was extremely good though it was a bit complicated. but in 1920 the exorcism was done in a simple way....that is just by ones own faith (chanting hanuman chalisa) .
still i do agree that indian horror cinema has a long way to go. have a good day and thanks a lot for responding to my discussion. happy postings!
