Yesterday while my husband was at work (he is a cable technician) he got into a car accident. he drives from house to house to hook up cable so he was in his work truck. Well, he was at a complete stop with a car in front of him and some stupid kid without a license (had a permit) wasnt paying attention and hit him. It put the back bumper underneath his truck. I am guessing he was going about 30 mph when he hit him. Kid ended up writing down all of his information for him (which was smart) but then decided that he was going to leave - well my husband had already called the cops since it was work related and so he went and told him. At that time, one of the kids friends commented to the kid about how he is on his NINTH accident and that his parents were going to be so mad and whatever... NINE ACCIDENTS and he doesnt even have his license!!!! WTF!!
Well last night when he got home he said that his back started hurting... when I called him today to see how he was doing it turned into going into his shoulder so now he is going to go get checked with the workmans comp clinic and then to go see a chiropractor (if he can get in). Poor hunny!! I cant believe that some kid without a license and with 9 accidents still has his learning permit... thats just insane to me.
Apparently from what he said the back of the truck was totaled. Sucks for the leasing company since apparently the truck was a leased one.

I am sorry to hear of your hubby's accident. I hope your hubby's back and shoulder are ok. I don't understand that either why someone with that many accidents on file, adult or otherwise, would still have their learning permit/license. Here it would not be tolerated and it would have been taken away permanently, with no chance of getting it back until it was proved that they could pay attention, or drive the car in the correct manner.

thats what I thought wouldve happened with the kid too... I didnt know that it would be tolerated like that either! I am so shocked at how this is all going so far and its been under 24 hours!!! Maybe he did what he tried to do with my husband, gives the information and then drives off, maybe the car is under his parents name so he gives their information? Who knows, but its just crazy to me that he is still driving after all those accidents

Unfortunately, in my opinion, with the high rate of car accidents that are committed each year in the United States, I'm surprised action has not been taken to make drivers wake up and pay attention when behind the wheel. Like put more funds into law enforcement and get more police officers out and about that are actually willing to do their job.
Here in Clarkson, KY there is only one officer for the entire town. He patrols daily, but he is just one person and though the town is small he can't be everywhere at one time, so a lot of people now have the thought that it is OK to speed on residential roads that are marked 20mph or slower. It annoys me that so many people disregard the laws, just because there isn't enough enforcement to make them obey.
Also depending on what insurance company the kid and/or the parents go through, one would think the parents would have put their foot down or the kid would start paying attention, when they had to start paying higher rates to keep insured, because of all the accidents. I don't know, maybe I'm just a hard case when it comes to money things, but I'd be pretty ticked at my child if he/she got into that many accidents and I had to start paying higher rates and I know for sure I would start paying attention more if I had been the cause of an accident and my insurance premium went up because of it.
It's one of the reasons that I don't drive as much anymore, cause I get tired of looking out for not only myself, but every driver I come across on the road that decides my lane is their's too , thinks it is necessary to pull out in front of me, when I'm nearly to them, or thinks that riding my tail will get me to break the law and go faster than the speed limit just so they can get to their destinations faster.
I sincerely hope that your husband don't have to put up with a lot of grief, just because of someone else's stupidity. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
