BOGOF You Have Heard Of Car Share So Why Not SHOP SHARE

We are all aware of the food prices going up and the supermarkets are doing excellent buy one get one free deals but surely a true way to save money would be to shop with a friend just for these offers that you both mutually use to half the shopping bill rather than have to pay the inflated prices and have two of a porduct you may only use once a month. Today for example there was a BOGOF (buy one et one free) on bread, I have no room in the freezer and to get two one would go stale before I used it. So instead of paying £1.24 for a loaf I paid 62p for one loaf and so did my neighbour. So guys what are you feelings about SHOP SHARE to help save money? Ellie :D

I do this when i go shopping with my friend or sister i think it's a good common sense idea we shared cereal and crisp offers last week but quite often not having a car i shop on line so sometimes i have to just buy in bulk and like it. Or i end up buying for them and they buy me something back in their shop not quite the same but it all works out lol

Well it would do if i wasn't so terrible when i go shopping i end up buying stuff i don't want to lol another reason why i shop online i press a button and get my usual stuff don't get tempted to buy all the rubbish. looks like great minds think alike lol

When I have been shopping regulary with a friend she has always turned her nose up at the so called 'odd' things that I put in my trolley so she was never a good person to potentially reduce my shopping bill with!! Her trolley is always full of so much crap!! Ok so we all put a bit of crap in but I wouldn't say buying chick peas to make homous is odd, would you?

Hi ellie
you are so very right!
In many cases you cannot store the extra you get and as a result we end up consuming more and allowing wastage as well. Its a great idea to share it with a friend. That makes sense! It would be like mutual benefit.
SHOP SHARE is a great thing to do. In fact I am thinking to do so.
huggles..

Hi ellie,
that is very smart..I have done that also with friend when I was single and stay with my Sister and friends but now being new here, I haven't tried doing it with a friend..
I would love to meet a good friend here whom I can share to save someday!

shop share is a great idea.....I love a bargain but its not exactly a bargan when you are wasting the food, I work in a supermarket and we get a lot of customers complaining about BOGOF's especially the elderly who feel they are missing out as they dont benefit from the BOGOF!

Hi Jessica, Perhaps the next time an elderly lady comes in and says about it suggest that she share with a neighbour to make use of these offers and they need to save where they can bless, like we all do but they tend to either eat or freeze or keep warm and live on soup instead which is very sad. Woring the supermarket I bet you can get discount and also save on the reduced down stuff a lot of the time too eh! Huggles. Ellie :D

I like your idea of shop share, especially if your relatives/friends live nearby. Or perhaps it can be developed with your neighbors. Shop share does help you save money and avoid food from being wasted.

I think that is an absolutely wonderful idea. I have done it a time or two with my kids....my son and his wife work at Hormels and they have meat sales but it's by the case which is too big for me....so we split. Throw in half the money and split the meat....makes much more sense!

Hi Jill, Yes it does in fac make much more sense. I know the BOGOFs are great deals but to actually save on the weekly shop half price would be much better so by doing it this way we can save. I have heard back from my Mexican friend and have just gone through discussions I have responded to and can't find yours as I was going to paste what they had writen back to me. I will go to your profile and add from there. Huggles Ellie :D

Hi Ellie! I do that all the time with my best friend. We do it with grocery items, shoes, cosmetics, laundry detergent, everything. It really works out so much better for both of us. And we prety much always do our shopping together, so it's easy to do too. A couple of winters ago, we got the greatest boots - I got 2 pair -and it worked out that we paid $11.00 a pair for them!!! I still wear them, 3 years later.
So I love Shop-Share!!! It's a win-win situation, all the way around!!

Hi Nova, How are you? Its great that you already put this into practice, it much more sense to do as saves money and waste. The boots were a fantastic deal. I do this with a neighbour and it half the weekly bill with the buy one get one free deals, going shopping together also saves on fuel as instead of us taking a car each we go together. Yes definitely win win win. Huggles. Ellie :D

A few customers do this, not just on BOGOF offers though. On products that are 2 for so much. I must admit though it is mainly the elderly people that do this, they come in with their friends and because they both live on their own they will shop share. One of them will by one of the offer products and the other would buy another product on offer and they would trade.
If I had some one that I could go shopping with and do this with I would. I think its great as you don't always want 2 of the same products or like you said if its bread or a fresh product, you might not use them both up and one would be wasted. When its BOGOF and one is wasted, I'm not that bothered as it was free as I didn't pay for that one (I know its the wrong perspective)

Hi Cinderella, Oh I hate waste of any sort which for me is the main reason I will share BOGOF before they go stale on especially on things like bread, fruit and veg offers. I am pleased that you get the elderly doing this as it makes so much sense for them to do. Huggles. Ellie :D

This is a great idea! The costo crowd might be happy knowing that they are not the only ones getting the great bulk prices. Where did you come up with this BOGOF sharing idea? What more do you know? Your son sure sounds like a cute kid, hope he gets over that allergy w/school. hehehe Blessings :)

Hi David, Supermarkets here have deals on products which are buy one get one free but with some products you won't be able to use before hey go off so it is a waste by taking someone else shopping with you you can both take advantage of the deals and end up paying half price instead. I do this with one of my neighbours and it works a treat. Oh think my son is a cutie too but I am mummy so biased LOL. Ellie :D

It is a good idea, saddly in my case nobody wants to go shopping with me. And I have no car or anything like that, so far I get promises of people giving a ride to the store when they go but nothing happens.
So it is a nice but unrealistic idea for me.

Hi Shelly, For two years I gave a neighbour a ride to the store every Thursday as I was going there myself. ASK when is the next time they are going, the people that have offered and then say thats great I will go with you if that is ok afterall you did offer, thats step one and then gradually work up to the BOGOF share thing. Good luck. Huggles Ellie :D

That's a great idea. I can do this with my family. I almost get to take advantage of the bulk deals because I can't afford to pay the high price.
My children and I "food share" a lot. We will give each other left overs and get together for dinner a lot more now that prices are so high. This way we can all contribute something to a nice meal.

Hi Raydene, That is a shame that you have no one to do this with, is there a neighbour nearby that may consider it as it also saves on fuel if you go together. How is that adorable puppy of yours and what name have you goven her, is she Daisy yet? Huggles. Ellie :D

Oh Hatley, that is such a shame that you haven't got any one to share with like this. I buy the cheaper brands too and also cheaper cuts of meat but just cook for slower and longer. Making up larger dishes of casserole and freezing into portions helps too as you are saving on fuel to cook. Huggles. Ellie :D

Yes i heard about car share, my husband has a workmate and then every week they have turns to drive. So shop share that's a great idea of saving money too. But unfortunately my neighbors and I were not close so i have nothing to share. Sometimes when mom and dad came down here, they bring us some foods from thier shopping. Happy myloting.

Its a good idea, but I have no one to go with. None of my family live in the town that I live in. I have no friends that I would go shopping with. I just have friends that I talk to. It sounds kinda pathetic huh. I'm tired of everything going up. Why is this happeing? The prices are rising and it seems that our pay is falling or just staying the same. THIS STNKS. But all in all you have a good idea. But first let me find someone to go with.

Hi Jennifer, I have no family nearby either but these people I just speak to over time have become good neighbours and friends, next time you have a chat with them say ablout this discussion and ask them if they are up for sharing costs as I think every body is trying to save where they can at the moment eh! Ellie :D
