Where's Carly Fiorina?

Has one of the McCain campaign's most visible surrogates, Carly Fiorina, been banished from the airwaves, disappearing over what some have called a "Biden-like" comment? (Note, this isn't my opinion, I know Joe Biden is said to talk too much at times but I've yet to ever hear him make "Fiorina-like" gaffes...lol!) http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/16/fiorinas-comment-called-biden-like/ This stems from Carly's comments the other day that none of the Presidential or V.P. nominees would be capable of running a large corporation such as her former company, Hewlett-Packard. Here's an excerpt from the above article: Asked by a St. Louis radio station whether she thought Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin could run a company like Hewlett-Packard, Fiorina responded: "No, I don't. “But that's not what she's running for. Running a corporation is a different set of things." (End of excerpt) It was after this exchange that she also said the same thing about the other candidates, Obama and Biden as well as her "boss", John McCain. One campaign source said she'll now be "discouraged from additional media interviews" while another said , "Carly will now disappear. Senator McCain was furious." Several TV interviews she had been booked for have now been canceled. This isn't Fiorina's first major gaffe; you may remember several months ago she caused an uproar over insurance coverage of Viagra while not covering birth control without first checking what McCain's own opinion was on that issue. So, what do you think? Is she going to be shipped to Siberia or just give a few days off in hopes everyone will forget her comments? Annie

I heard of this last night. Do you think he will make Palin disappear since she went against what he said yesterday? lol I don't care for Carly, she is a disgrace to women and geeze I think I could easily throw CEO's in there as well. I think everyone would love for her to be shipped off to Siberia except for the citizens of Siberia.

Of course she's a disgrace. She's a republican. How dare she betray women by supporting a Pro-Life Republican!

OMG how many crimes did she commit while running HP? I don't care if she's a Republican, she's a criminal.

I definitely think she's done in this campaign. She was there to balance out the Hillary variable on the Dems side. It was early in the campaign and there was time to recover from mistatements. Now the race is too close and too short to deal with her unchecked statements. I think she spoke from the heart. She ran HP and knows what it takes. I don't think running a corporation is the same as running the government. But just like she made that comment, she would be ill-equipped to run be President or VP based soley on her corporate experience.

I tend to agree with you. From what I understand, she didn't do such a good job at running HP herself, did she? Annie

You know, when I heard that "she's going to disappear"...I immediately thought of all the mob movies I've ever seen. "We can someone disappear for you"...alot of other folks thought of the same time I did and probably for the pure amusement factor of it. I liked how you describe it better though. She is BANISHED! *tofiorinafrommccaincampaign* "Begone woman! And may you trouble us no more."

Well she said she doesn't think any of the candidates are qualified to run a major corporation like HP. That's a fair assessment and I'd totally agree with it. The problem is that all the liberal networks did what they always do and turned it into headlines reading "McCain's own people don't believe he can run a corporation" and "Carly Fiorna Speaks Out Against Palin’s Experience… And McCain’s" and they completely leave out that she said NONE of the candidates have what it takes and that the presidency is a completely different job. Either way it's an issue because she's smart enough to know that the media will twist words any way they can to smear McCain and she should have been more careful with her statements.

Come on, Taskr, now it's the "liberal media's" fault that McCain was furious over what she said? Every time I heard this story on TV - and it was NOT on Fox - they played the entire thing, where she said none of the candidates have what it takes and that it's a different job. I don't know what liberal networks YOU listened to or watched but they were clearly not the same ones I did. What ever happened to your fairness...lol...? Annie

In my previous post to your response I said when I'd heard it reported on TV they included all of what she'd said, that she'd said it about Palin, McCain, Obama and Biden and that she said the Presidency is a different job. Why did you basically repeat the same thing over again, that people only heard the part about Palin and McCain when I'd already said the "liberal" networks I watch showed the entire thing? I guess the only way to be "fair" would have been to not air or print any of her words, right? Annie

Are these enough headlines for you Annie? I don't have time to watch TV and I get most of my news from the major organization's websites in addition to the newspapers. Since I can't and won't be scanning newspapers to show you all I can do is provide you with these links. Now anyone who reads these articles in their entirety would see the whole story, but the majority of voters are far too lazy to read through entire articles. They read headlines and look at pictures. The headlines are CLEARLY biased. Notice how NONE of these headlines mention that she said these things about ALL the candidates? They only mention Palin, except that one of them mentions McCain as well.
