Lately I've been talking to my family members, the ones who are in to computers of course. And I've been told how so many people are trying to make a better operating system then microsoft's Operating systems. Most of the people who are trying to do this are anti Bill Gates. There are many Operating Systems better then microsofts out there but the problem is that there designs suck. And building a great design for an operating system takes years which most people don't have.

Actually there are good operating system than Windows OS, well it depends on task you are using it for. For example When we go for programming,Linux is good operating system as all compilers and stuffs comes i it,where as Windows wont have it, we have to get or purchase extra software.
Linux can be modified and we can create our own distribution for our specifications, but cant be done in windows but slip streaming done for windows using nLite OR vLite.
so we cant actually say there are no operating system better than Windows, and most of the people know mostly about windows os and dint use other operating system and so wont be knowing the features in other OS.

Yes I understand that. This is because the interface is easy to use for a common user, and I don't see why they don't just make a great interface for an os.

Microsot Windows is the best operating system for desktop computers on this planet. Thats why 90% of PC user uses it. However only for servers section Linux is better than Windows. Becuse it has better security feature than windows. But these Linux OS are not user friendly for everyone like Microoft OS.

Linux OS is better for servers... Because they are light weight operating systems, meaning they do not take up a lot of memory. Making Linux go much faster than other Operating Systems. 90% of users use Microsoft Windows because it is the most common, and you can ask other people about it. It also has a great interface.

i think that it's a good thing, as long as there is a competition and there is a Freeware OS that you can use than paying a license for Windows , it's a good thing for us as a consummers.
There is Ubuntu and Mandriva which are good, they just need to make the things more easy for users and beginners, i use them and they are really pretty good and suitable to me.
