Hi youless,
Try to recall what she likes and what she makes her happy...It is easy to give gifts and advice when we know the person..
How about you will cook her favorite menu and then you will surprise her a visit and eat with her family, she will love that for sure, having you, your hubby and your child to celebrate with her and her family!
I am sure anything from you will add to her happiness in her day!

Hmm... she is your sister in law. You should know her better than the most of us.
The best gift is to get her something she wants rather than not.
No point asking for suggestions then later get already, she cannot make use of it.
First of all, what is your budget?
Second, what are some of the likes and dislikes you sis-in-law have?
Are you planning a party for her birthday?
How old is she? Makes the suggestion of a gift easier if we know her age as well.

Since you are on good terms with her, choose something that you know she would definitely like; what I mean is sometimes we like something and we won't mind having numbers in the same item--different types of dresses, utensils etc[with mild variations]Secondly you can also choose something that you know she has been planning to buy and kept postponing. You can gift her a cd /some song that she fancies if she has a player at home; You can opt for a blouse holder or a garment holder; a nice book. If she is passionate about something [like craft/embroidery you can buy her some design book or craft/embroidery material and cloth; may be a sweater /shawl[depending on the temperature in your place and your budget;]
a small jewlry box; come cosmetics which is very expensive and out of the way or beyond her contemplating buying it on her own; somethinghtat she would definitely use; it can even be a kitchen utensil, some airtight container; a small leather purse or fancy handbag that she may like;a nightgown.

Does she like to shop? If so, give her a gift card to her favorite store. If she likes to cook, get her either a cooking utensil she needs or a cookbook. In other words, find out what she is into and buy a gift that helps or enhances her hobby.

There are some women who don't like shopping. My mom was one. She would just go in , get what she needed and get out as fast as she can.

In choosing a gift for someone... we always have to consider their personality and hobbies so just concentrate on those... but if you have no idea whatsoever... the safest gift to give her is a gift certificate to a certain department store... that way she can just choose what she wants...

I always think that perfume goes down well and is very much appreciated, it's a lovely gift that ladies love and I think personally it would be a perfect gift, if you don't know what she likes, you could always if possible ask someone close to her what her favourite perfume or scent is! Good luck my friend, I am sure you will get some other great ideas! But I would definitely go with perfume!

It's impossible to reccomend a gift for someone I don't know. I suggest you pay attention to your sister-in-law and listen to her, when she expresses something she may want, in the future, or something that she has never gotten around to buying for herself, and then go out and get it for her. That will be a surprise because she won't be expecting it.

Can you take out of her mind what she really needs in her daily life. Or else buy her something she really likes. If she likes books buy her one of her favourite's author or some nice music she likes.

Good afternoon, youless. I think that it would be better to send her some nice gift based on her interest. It would be wonderful if you could know some hobby of hers when you choose a nice gift. Maybe it is still early for her birthday to come and you might still have enough time to chat with her about her favorites without letting her know about it, so that you could get some helpful information and buy a gift for her as a great surprise. Good luck to you, youless. Good day.

surprise? well, the best gift is granting her dominant wish. i mean, what she needs and wants most lately? if you can afford it, better you give that. for the general gifts, i usually give a book, an interesting book to my friends and relative for the birthday gift, maybe about their hobbies. like when my sister had birthday, i gave her a book about planting orchid, because she like orchid and have a small orchid garden on the front yard of our house. and she liked it.
happy gifting and good luck. hope your sister will be happy upon receiving your gift

Youless,If I don't have any idea what they like or they want, I would rather give them a gift certificate of a shopping mall or a restaurant. By that, they can get the things they want and like or they can eat the food they love.
Or, something that could pamper them like spa package or anything that makes her birthday very unforgetable like a make over kind of thing. Im already carried away hehehe...Good luck.

Live plants are nice. Or flowers make a good present. I like to receive unique jewelry. Maybe you could find something with her special stone in it, if she likes her birthstone. I love receiving candle holders from my daughter-in-law. If you know her personal taste really well, maybe a shopping bag, or a handbag. Make your gift as unique as she is.
