I have seen a lot of places and they are really clean, In japan people are employing the segregation system of garbage and you cannot just throw your garbage away but it should be segregated in kind. I saw an exhibit in tokyo were refuse are recycled back for use. But in our place , it is appalling to see street children striving to get something on garbage bin. Our rivers are dead with filth all over and not one fish will survive. Do we have a government incharge for this or they are just same trapos who are good in politicking. How and when can we do something.
Everytime I go to the Market, I usually sit at the back of it , looking at people crossing the Pasig and noticed the river is dead and all the garbage are in it" In my thoughts and wishing I could do something to save it"
By the way, we will conduct baywalk cleaning tommorow and maybe you can convince other to do the same, just my suggestion. Let's save the earth!!

I think no matter how strict will be the policy of our law still nothing happen.. The problem here is not really the government but the people living here.. They don't have self-discipline.. Even they know the effect of all the things that they doing still they do the same job.. They don't care of others or to the nature but they just care of their self.. Sometimes, people are too selfish since they just think what's the best for themselves..
When I was in college, I joined an environment organization in our school and in our city.. I have learned so many things in that organizations the proper segregations of garbages and what are the effects of this in our nature.. Well, our group made some videos presentations with a message songs.. We composed it.. Then we view this video in our school, but the students didn't even try to watched that videos.. It seems that they are not interested.. Then we also post it in the website but still no changes.. Then we have this program for barangay which is a house to house talk.. We let each houses know about the proper segregations but they are not interested.. They always told us that they were busy and don't time to do that.. Well, for 4 years in college and 4 years having this program we found out that for 4 years, we didn't get reach our goals..It is really sad to know that people are not interested in our program.. The government in our city also try to help us and made 3 different kinds of trash cans in all barangays for the proper segregations but still it seems people don't know what's the different of bio-degradable and non-biodegradable.. They will just throw their garbages without segregating it..
So, I believe that no matter how the government promote this still it will not work for as long as people don't have disciple in it and for as long as they don't know to value our environment.. It is really sad to know admit this but it is true based on my observations and what I've seen..

I admire your corcern and activities done and your observation was right, discipline to all is necessary. I have an experienced which i can never forget, I visited my father where his house back door is a small open waterway with a bridge to cross it and as I pass by the bridge walking I say a maid about to throw a garbage along the water my immediate response was to stop her , but what I get was a mura that i have no business stopping here, i notice a signed placed on the bank of the river, penalties of 3000 pesos and jail term of six months was posted, but this signboards are no meaning to them. What a pity philippines, ever since i never did an act like that and I simply smile when I saw one.
Well, Im happy that I was in a company that care, we have a program of cleaning the seaboard regularly but i noticed that every time a bad weather will flood Manila, these garbage are coming more and more. what a sight to see. Im happy with your activities and may you continue the same. God bless you.

yes kissie ,you said it so, i just come from our clean up drive today and im so happy to see that we are not alone for this activity, i estimate a thousand of people participated today, more than thousands of bags of all kinds of rubbish are collected, and the good thing that Manila Mayor Lim have sent his trucks to haul the collected ones. Its so nice to see people working together at least in our little way we can make this place a proud place to walk by and see.
Young and old people are trekking the Manila bay to help in the cleanup drive and if we can only do this every saturday , we can atleast see the difference. Happy mylotting to you and i wish you will continue your environmental drive and even one member gain a day is something big towards this environmental crusade.

I guess we can blame the government partially for this but we also have to blame the people who are throwing their trash there in our rivers and bays and seas. If the government would pass laws on environmental and uphold these laws AND if people follow these laws, we wouldn't have much of a problem. We should also do our part by not throwing trash everywhere and segregating our trash. Maybe then would we have a clean place to live.

Im glad that you responded, I read once in a gazzette a topic and seminars including activities being done by the government, but the system employed are not lasting, I can see some dredging done on some areas but sooner they are just like road works left behind and unattended. Just the same old dogs program for a show by I dont know who is incharge. I believe it can be done if we are sincere and know what to do and lasting. Lasting i mean because everyday of our life we extract garbage in our homes and factories are the same. Uphold the law is correct and should be something more severe. Look , we can solve flooding too, I passed by a place where the Barangay Captain where so willing to relieve his area of flooding where he contracted some baranggay folks to excavate the old canals and waterways in his area and i noticed that the old ones are totally blocked by garbage, the next day i passed by the excavated ones was left lying by the road, fortunately the night after that came heavy rains flooding the whole area and what do you expect, the garbage was back to the canals. i cannot understand what system was that. All I can say is " Only in the Philippines" LOL.
Yes , in my house, we are implementing the segregation system and i thought mmy children to recycle. I remember the first time i ask my children to sell them to the shop, they were ashame to do it. But not this time. Ha ha ha ha.
Hopefully, others will agree in the saying that " cleanliness is progress" LOL

I think the government should start punishing the people who pollute the rivers and waters that surround our beautiful land. Actually, they should punish anyone who pollutes period.

If Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte can make wonders with Davao, I wonder why the rest of the country cant. My husbands office brought us here last March. We have been all around the Philippines and Davao surely is the most livable city. Of course there are little mishaps once in a while but definitely .000000000001% compared to Metro Manila.
My husband was elected as barangay chairman in one of the biggest barangay in Quezon City. He is really trying his best to improve his barangay in all aspects. I am wishing him well. I hope, in his own little way, pollution will be lessened in that part of the earth. Since he is in Davao every two weeks, he filed for a leave but is still very active in all programs for the barangay.
He is concentrating on garbage disposal. Davao City provides thousands of this big garbage containers with wheels marked with biodegradable and non bio. My husband bought the same garbage containers for the barangay at P2300 each. We are hoping that these containers dont get to be taken by thieves. In Davao, its amazing no one will dare rob the garbage containers. So far, the barangay sweepers do not leave the containers out of sight yet. Maybe later on, the people will make it a habit to use the containers wisely.
The containers is only one of my husbands programs. Another one is fight corruption. So far, he has trained the people around him, not to take advantage of the residents. He has trained them well and now even the arrogant counselors realize that they are there to serve and not to be served!
There is so much to do in his barangay that will later on make a difference. I wish him all the succes.
Our house here in Davao is 300 meters away from a beach resort. Beaches here are very well maintained, except for a few plastic bags every now and then which the caretakers try to sweep.
Yes!lets save the earth!

i congratulate you and your husband's program, now one by one will tell their stories about their project in every part of the philippines and that is a good indicationthat many are concerned about this dilemna and if every one will co operate , we can save the earth.
I heard of Davao, my wife just visited Davao and Mayor Duterte work is exemplary too, hoping all our politicians are like them, then we can have a safe and clean barangays, safe and cleaner towns, safe and clean provinces, safe and beautiful cities and of course a lovable Philippines.
Congratulations to you both that your effort be notice by many.

Hi edujccz! "Do not ask what your country can do to you, but ask yourself what you can do to your country." I just borrowed this from the great John F. Kennedy. The Philippines is a very beautiful place to live in where people are very nice and fun-loving. But there are lots of place in the country like in Metro Manila where there is a lot of garbage in the streets. I think this may be because most people in the area must not be that disciplined enough to clean their trash. They think that their place is like garbage where they can just be careless in throwing away their trash. They never think that the area they pass by everyday is already their home. I have been to lots of places in the country, but sad to say, many places are really dirty especially in Manila. pollution is everywhere from land to water to air. I am very proud to say that I am from Davao City. Our place is cited as the most livable place in the country and as the cleanest and greenest. There's a cooperation between people here and the government. Everybody is disciplined enough no to dump trash everywhere. We also have the clean air act where people can't just smoke everywhere. I think if the government as well as the people will just be united for a common great cause, then nothing is impossible. It's not too late for us to act. As you said, "Let's save the Earth," as if we have another planet where we can transfer just in case.

I've seen singapore, not only that the place is clean but its green surrounding makes the place very cool, you travel everywhere and you are like visiting a lovely garden. Yes i am with you, if we can only work hand in hand , we can clean this city and make it a proud place to live. "Mahirap na nga tingin nila satin , madumi pa paligid, ka awa awa naman"

It is possible to make our country clean. The key to this agenda is unity among our countrymen. Look at Marikina City, it is a great city to live in because people of Marikina are very cooperative to the goal of their municipality or community. They follow rules and they are very strict to make the rules be applied among their community. Helping hands among the people will make this goal into success.

The philippines, if people are educationally aware of their surroundings,a place where they proud of being a Filipino by thoughts, by words, and in spirit, i think its not far to quote its a clean place to live. Cleaning of surroundings, why not clean all garbage thoughts? Can one save live if one work alone, if you just trash it to the government, if you just order it without action, if you just plain say CLEAN. How activating? People complaint, because no one dare to stop them, instead of blaming , why dont you take the first move to do it to somebody who you dont know and act as if you know. Maybe someone will realize the trash that you pick can be beaten by everyone to pick their own trash. We are perfecting wrong, in quoting the government should do it alone, why dont we act to call this place a home, start with your home garbage, recycling, or make use of other matter in valuable thing. It keeps on reminding, bugging and nobody pays attention. Whose to blame, when everyone is throwing their trash in Pasi river? Whose to blame, when there lights up in the street, someone steal them? Whose to blame, that we file our garbage too thick because someone has to pick it up and throw them out of nowhere, and sick of this recycled system. People, be enlighten that we owe our liberty to what we can do and not to those whom you regard as useless. There is only one Body of Christ, why dont we put ourselves together so that we can be one, one garbage to another be usefull to another, one friend to pick it up and to mend , one pattern of solution why crample it, why dont we act as human, for this body is Holy and reserve to everyone. Please take a sit of where you should be place in this one Body of Christ. Its nice to live with clean mind, clean heart and clean soul, cause you can do more than Love your country and yourself. Try to clean you trash in your body .Help to clean your surroundings too.

Actually, I lived in a community were an open canal is present, many times on saturdays and sundays , i clean the canal of all the plastic and rubbish that i can see in the area, i sweep our surrounding of littered things, neighbors simply walk n passes by, others will greet you, others will joke on me, sometimes i spend my own money to clean the canals in the thoughts that my neighbors will follow. But alas, in the number of hundred living in that community only 3 people followed, most of them dont care and seems to ignore the dirt around and afraid to handle dirt, what you call 'social". But i dont have the right to impose it, maybe they are happy that i am cleanning. i notice the youth that they will only move when you offer them money. So! i just simply do a little of my part cleaning the place as happy as i am. I love my country very much, though it is dirty im proud of it still. That is why, i posted it that maybe many souls will pick it up and do the same. Have a happy and clean living.
