What are your views?!!
I personally think they look lovely especially tribal art on a man across a muscly upper arm and across the back......., anyway if they are tasteful!
what tattoos do you have, have you ever considered having any?
I have considered them but haven't had any as 1...im a complete softy and dont do pain! 2....I just wonder how they would look in my old age with saggy skin! hmmmm!
however i really like them and have some design ideas!!!

I never considered having tattoos, I don't really like them. Just like you, I don't like pain, but I also think that tattoos aren't that attractive, I don't think they look that clean. So, I never thought of having tattoos, I don't think I will, but still, we should be open-minded.

I have 2 tattoos. One is a purple vampire aunk on my uper back, and the other is a heart with bat wings being pierced in the center by a rose. I was always afraid to get a tattoo becasue of the pain, but one day I was visiting my best friend, and since we hardly ever get to see each other anymore since we live in differnt states, we decided to get matching tattoos. We differ a lot even though we're best friends, but one think we both love is vampire novels or movies, so we decided to get that. It really hurt at first, but after a few minutes my body got used to the pain. The outline hurts the most. For me when they fill it in, it didnt hurt at all. My second tattoo on my lower back hurt ALOT! I guess that is a more sensitive area. I was so sore I couldn't sit back in a chair for a couple days afterwards. But even though it was painful I still have plans to get 2 more. I want a black rose on my leg and something on my wrist i'm not sure what yet.

Currently I only have one tattoo. It's on my left bicep and it's a dragon, but from a distance it looks like a seahorse. I have been in planning stages to get more tats. I've thought about a couple of "tribal" tattoos on my right bicep and forearm, a couple more B/W tats on my left bicep (possibly a infinity symbol, and some kind of funny or vicious rabbit as a symbol of my Chinese zodiac sign with the number 1975 in it somewhere), then I would get the "barbed wire around a burning heart" symbol used by Dream Theater on my chest near my heart.
The one I think would be most controversial would be one I've thought about to put on my inner calf, which would be of a naked woman drying off. The main reason I find myself often balking at that one is because it may prevent me from wearing shorts at one of my jobs, and I live in Las Vegas, where it is over 100 degrees for most of the summer, so my @$$ if I have to wear long black pants during that time.

The joke about getting Chinese writing is that you'll find out later it doesn't mean anything you want, like the story of the guy who saw Chinese writing he thought was cool, so he had it tattooed on his arm, then later found out it meant something like "Egg Foo Yung Special Today". It's funny.
As for the UK, I imagine you'd like the sun better here, as opposed to the rain you guys get, but 100-110F heat may get on your nerves after a while.

I have three tattoos at the moment. I have one on my lower back which most people call a tramp stamp, even the guy I went out with last night (needless to say not going out with him again). Then there is a cross on my calf, and a faerie on my shoulder. I would like to get more, but I think I am done with my three.
I find them incredibly sexy on a man as long as they are tasteful. I am not a fan of naked women on men, or anything but like you said Jess the tribal tattoos are nice.

I don't have any tatts - and I'm far too chicken to ever do it (not to mention my body is nearly 51!) - but I have seen some really nice little ones on women. My daughter has a small lizard on her hip bone (it can only be seen when she's wearing a bikini or low-cut jeans) and she has her zodiac sign on her lower back. I think it's a mistake when people have names of their b/f or g/f tattooed on, though - difficult and expensive to have them lasered off - so it's probably best to go with something else!

Oh an by the way you are never too old , this guy a new client of mine is 85 years old . Hes getting extensive tattoo work done . He gets tattooed about once every other week . He falls asleep while I tattoo on . He is an amazing fun guy!

Hi , I am a professional tattoo artist . I love and adore my trade . There are so many tattoos out there . You do not just have to get tribal , you can just about get anything you want if you go to the right artist . Is it painful ? Yes , but probably not as bad as you are thinking . It feels like a mild sunburn after it is done and takes about two weeks to heal . as you are getting it , it is one of the most original feeling you will ever feel , it burns a lil it stings a lil, sometimes it tickles some , and for me it truly lets me get in touch with myself . Personally I have 78 hours of work on my body . It is a life style , for I am met with curiosity , interest, disgust and fear. I absolutely respect people who do not want to get tattoos . That is what they decide and that's awesome , for one reason i get tattoos is because I have the freedom to do so. Also tattooing has been around since the beginning of time . sine we discovered ourselves and our temple we have wanted to decorate it , It was not only use to mark animals but it also showed your status in a tribe ,or how much land you owned . In some tribes only the women we the actual tattoo artists and they would sing to their clients. The art is so beautiful and there are so many meanings . Every single one of my tattoos have a story and tell about a part of my life.
If you are thinking about getting a tattoo research it find something that is personal to you . If you go into it thinking that one day you would want it removed do not get it . Tattoos are meant for life.

Advice please check portfolios and make sure the shop is sanitary and safe! Good luck to you and thanks for the friend add!!! I'll check back in here tomorrow to see if this has taken off more . I have three and plan to get more once I have some money. The first one I got on my right lower leg in black of the Scorpio symbol (I got when I was diagnosed with MS), the second one I got last February on my upper left arm/shoulder of the Chinese symbol for Strength, and a tribal design on my lower back I had done in Las Vegas last September. I WAS supposed to have four done this year (two for fun, one to celebrate being in remission from MS and one for my daughters 15th birthday, but fortunes have changed and I had a relapse 2 1/2 months after going into remission, so it'll be a while. I'm a wimp about pain but it's true--once you get one, you're addicted!

Im sorry to hear about your relapse, hope your recovery is going well!
A few people have said they are painful but in an addictive way and that you wont stop at just one tattoo!!! My star sign is Scorpio and i was looking at getting a scorpion on the inside of my wrist but apparently that would hurt!!!!
hugs,
Jessica

I think tattoos as well as piercings and hairstyles, fashion are all a matter of personal choice. I am like you...I don't have any mainly because of the pain factor and also I'm older. I have seen some very attractive ones. As far as what they will look like as one ages. I think that nowadays, no one should worry about that as they are so common on both men & women that it will be just one of those things. And as for your ideas, maybe you could do up some designs for a tattoo artist and sell them?

I think tattoo's a great way to express yourself. My first tattoo is going to be a photo of my daughter with her name in the middle of my back. My fiance justin already has tattoo's, and his next tattoo is going to be a sleeve of her first and middle name. We are also gettin matching four leaf clovers, because we met on St. Patricks day. The pain thing verys on were you get the tattoo. Like on your ribs I hear hurts really bad, but your arm/ankle isn't to bad. I think that tattoo's should have meaning. Good luck with your choice.

Tattoos are cool. But it really depends, because some people do it for the only purpose of acting or looking "cool" and "rude", manly, macho man, or whatever you want to call it _.
Now there are times when people do it because they want something or someone to be kept as a permanent memory on them. They do a tattoo with a meaning and a story behind it. Those are for me the good ones. The ones where you can ask the person what's the reason of that tattoo and the onwner can tell you something about it that is interesting and worth listening.
I would do it, if I ever want to keep something permamently, and also if I ever get the balls to do it xD. You know, I've heard it hurts!

Tattoos really look good on young figured girls, mostly at their back, or on the neck at the back. I never thought of having a tattoo because my body is not so well maintained and I just dont think it will look good on. Actually it only look good on girls, gives them a sexy look. Not on boys.

I think tattoos on girls can look classy if put in the right place, like you said lower back nape of neck, I think they look good on guys too especially across their shoulders and upper arms!

just wanted to jump back in real quick and post a little note of warning , be careful with the glow in the black light ink . Not so much research and study has gone out on it . It contains some harmful materials that may suggest cancer in certain individuals .Yet then again doesn't everything nowadays? I will hop back out I have been enjoying this thread . happy mylotting !

I think that some tatoos are cute on ladies. On men they can be some that are tasteful, but others look gross. I have a small butterfly tattoo on my lower back. I think it is cute.
My son has a great tattoo on his back. From shoulder blade to shoulder blade he has our last name ~ BENNETT in black letters. I think that it looks great on him. My other son has a weird vine around his arm. I hate it. I think it is too big and they put it a bit too low on his arm.

I adore tattoos, especially if they are on some hottie...makes him even hotter :) I have one tat, it's a pair of wings that says Angel with Attitude. I would love to have a few more, but the hubby hates them. Right now, I am a stay at home mom, so we don't exactly have the extra cash to waste on a new tat. But once I go to work..I told the hubby all bets are off and I'm going to get a couple more. I want to get one in memory of my mom who passed away and one with my kids names in it. They really aren't that painful to get, but I guess it depends on your pain tolerance. To me it felt like when you get a sunburn and someone scratches you on it. I'm not really to worried about how they are going to look when I get old because I figure I'll be like 80, everything will be all droopy and saggy, so who's going to care LOL

It doesnt matter what age you are. If you want to have one then by all means get one. I've been wanting to have a tattoo for the longest time. Eversince i was in college but like you im afraid of the pain. But since i started watching miami ink, my interest in tattoos came back. I dont find anything wrong with having a tattoo. It's art and a way to express yourself. One of these days i'll get myself one and my design would be a cherub at the back of my nape.

I do agree that they are nice especially if they are tasteful. I have thought about getting one but i have not done it. Noone wants me to do it except my husband says that he doesnt care if i get one or not. I am just not sure what i would want to get or even if i really want one. Pain does not bother me. The old age saggy skin thing does make me wonder that if i got one how would it look when i get old and saggy. But i do know that both my brothers have at least one tattoo so evidentally they were not concerened with any of that.

I love men that have tattoos! Something about it! I would love to get my 1st tat but like you, dont like pain and am scared of needles! I think that tat's should have a meaning for the person, stand for something. I know what I want but am to chicken to go get it. I also think that tat's will become an addiction for me.
I dont ever really think about the saggy skin part though.
