Have you ever been hospitalized due to an accident or a severe sickness?

In life, we have ups and downs. It may be financial or health. During your stay here in earth, have you ever been rushed to the hospital because you got into an accident or have you ever had a sickness that was so severe that you had to be rushed to the hospital right away? Was it traumatic? How did it affect your life? As far as I could remember, the one thing that I had to be rushed in a hospital was when my gum bled mysteriously while we wuz commuting on the way home. Funny thing is that I only stood in a corner while I was talking to my girl on the phone and then suddenly as soon as we entered the vehicle my gum started bleeding. Not just small amount of blood but tons of red blood that just came out like a bloody running water in the faucet. When I saw the blood I felt dizzy as hell and I then took out my hanky and damped it into my gums and my friend asked the driver to stopped in a nearby hospital. After that, I went to a tons of doctors and dentist so I could find out where this thing occured from and surprisingly, they found no trace. It still gives me a goose bump whenever I remember this chapter in my life. Kinda traumatic.

Most of the post here relates that they were hospitalized when they where kids. I was hospitalized when I was a kid. I can't remember the first one clearly but my parents told me it was because of primary complex. The second time was when i was in grade 5 (about 12 years old) and i think i was there for a month. It was because of some sickness that the doctors was not sure. They can see symptoms of Dengue but nothing was certain. I felt pain in my stomach and my fever was up and down. The main concern was my blood platelets. They were monitoring if it is going down that's why they have to confine me. I even heard a doctor told my mom that i could be in serious condtion if the blood platelets would keep going down and it would be just on my will to fight it. So I tried my very best to eat even though i really don't feel like it and pray as much as I could so I could be well. Fortunately I survived and here I am now respoding to this discussion. :)

i had an accident just a month back. I was on a bike and I was hit by a car on the flyover. I was unconcious and was rushed to the hospital by people on the spot. When I woke up I realized that I have cut my lip and chin, my mouth was split open and had lost 4 teeth. I was given anasthesia and the whole mouth was stitched. I am still in the process of recovering and getting my voice back. I have to wait a while before I can go to the dentist. This accident had left me with a scar on the face that always reminds me of the accident. probably I will get over it as time moves on. but one thing is sure I will not touch the bike. one lesson is enough for me.

Nope, that's never happened to me. The only time I have ever had to stay in the hospital was when I had some surgery on my legs that had been in the planning well enough in advance that I was prepared for it. Nothing too severe, just something to fix a problem I had walking.

Yes, but it was not traumatic because everyone in my family has to go through it at some point in their life. We all know what the hospitals are for, and we have no fear of them. I have gone into the hospital several times for Asthma Attacks. The hospital is just part of life for me.

I haven't had many run ins with the hospital. I have never broken a bone in my life thank god but i was hospitalized once when i was around 5 for pneumonia. I was In NC visiting my grandparents for Christmas and the Island actually got a snow storm (this is rare for the coast). I got pnemonia and was put in the hopsital before Christmas. I was released 1 day before Christmas but no one could come an get me because only 4 Wheel Drive Vehicles were authorized to be on the roads. Apparently the day i was allowed to go home, the mayor of the Island was at the hospital. I guess the nurses were telling her about my situation and she felt compelled to take me home. Come on what decent human would let a small child miss Christmas? She was my hero that day, i was devastated knowing i couldn't go home for Christmas.

No I never had. I can imagine it being terrible. That is why I don't take as much of a risk.

Yes I do. When I was little I've been confined in a hospital 3 - 5 times. I can't remember but all of it are due to being sick. I've never been to confined to a hospital due to an accident. And I'm not hoping to. Hehe. I still remember that one time, I start feeling sick by noon and then rushed to the hospital by lunch time. I still remember the feeling like there's sand in my mouth. Weird.

I have been only hospitalized twice in my lifetime. One of those times was when I was getting my tonsils taken out. The next time was when I was in the 7th grade and had broken my ankle in 2 places. I had to have surgery and metal pins inserted to help it heal correctly. I try not to go to the hospital, but sometimes you can't avoid it.

No, I have not... I hope to never be either.. But, when I was younger, my grandmother told me that one of us was sick in the hospital about to die from Pneumonia. I asked her whom it was, she told me that it was me.. So, I make sure to be careful in the winter.. I hate catching colds!

I was rushed to the hospital once when i fell in the kitchen and hit the cabinet in the side. Unfortunately, the cover was glass and it broke into pieces. One piece cut into my arm and it bled profusely. It was like someone stabbed my arm. My family rushed me to the hospital and the emergency doctor sewed my arm. I wasnt able to go to work because of this for three weeks. I just stayed in bed the whole time. Now whenever i think about it i feel scared. Plus, there's a big scar on my left arm to remind me of the whole nightmare.
