Lip Piercings

I was always told that for some people tats and piercings were addictive, but I didn't believe until I got my own. I have 4 tats now, a back piece, and planning more. This is about my newest piercings though. I got my nose pierced and I love the way it looks and oddly enough it makes me feel sexier too. So I wanted more piercings and I LOVE snakebites. I spoke with a friend who use to be a piercer though and she was against them. Said she regretted having her tongue pierced and snakebites would be the same. They irritate your gums and over time will wear down the enamel on your teeth. So instead I went for two side lip piercings.
I LOVE these piercings, but it seems to be taking a very long time to heal. I was just wondering if anyone else could share their experiences. I got them both done at the same time and they are healing at the same rate, so one is not worse than the other. They are still sore sometimes though, get crusty, and at times I think the drainage looks a little like puss. I have been back to my piercer and he says everything looks fine. I got them done on the 13th of August though and it's been over a month now. Is this really normal?

Back in the day while I was still in the military (and single with no kids) I had 7 piercings and one tattoo. I'm now down to 3 piercings and the tattoo. The piercings were so addictive! I still wish I had a lot of my piercings, but getting older and after having three kids my body isn't in the same shape as I was in back then. If I get myself into good shape again I will get more piercings. Oh, and I've always wanted to get a tongue piercing but at the time because of my job I couldn't. I'm also looking into getting another tattoo.

I have 4 kids and so my body is, well, there's no hope. lol I had twins my first time so it only got worse after that. Anyway, I have my nose done and the two lip hoops and other than my ears I am probably done with piercings. Tattoos on the other hand....lol

What type of jewelry are you wearing in them? I had a problem with allergies with my ears and they were leaking stuff and red for 3 years and then I switched to glass and instantly the problems went away (seriously, in 3 days it was completely healed). I don't think they have glass lip piercings, but maybe titanium or something?
