Do you take the mags?

So you are sitting in the doctor's or dentist's waiting room and you engrossed in an article in one of the magazines that are put in the room for you to read while you wait. Your name/number is called and with a annoyance you put the mag down, or do you? Would you take the magazine with you to finish reading later even though you know other people might see you do this? Do you take it without a care in the world not even giving any thought to what other people think? Would you never dream of taking a magazine from the waiting room? Would you consider this to be stealing even though the mags have been given to the place of waiting?

Only time I have taken a magazine was when I was at my Dentist. I was reading this gaming magazine for over an hour, then when it was time to leave I just asked the lady if I could take the magazine with me and she didn't mind. She got it for free anyways.

When i am waiting for the dentist, my mind will be filled up with the horrors of the metal apparels drilling into my teeth(blame the movie chucky for it), lol apparently i will be thinking about it until it is my turn so i never touch the magazines before.

Hello Yukito590 At least you asked if you could take it. If you felt that bad you could always take some of your own into them after you have finished with them. Thanks for responding

If I saw a great article that I really wanted, I would leave the magazine since it's not mine at all. Someone else there paid for all of the waiting room people to get to read as their entertainment. I already have my own stuff at home anyway and anyway, will get some paper or something and write it down of the address for the article if there is of that particular magazine. I tend to have my own entertainment by bringing my own magszines or books with me if I am still reading it. I am always into reading no matter what.

Your welcome. To me, it's just wrong to take it with me anyway. My conscious will chew me up and spit me out kind of mentality. I'm curious. What kind of magazines are you into anyway? I'm into magazines such as family circle, woman's day kind of thing as well as success magazine for people that want to be successful themselves. It's always great to be around people that have the same kind of mentality as you do.

With experience I can say that the waiting time here in the US does not end once our name is called. We just have to go inside and wait another hour!! So, if I am reading something very interesting in the magazine, I will ask the attender if I can take it to the room with me. Most often, I also see magazines inside the attending room too, so I don't think this should be a problem. Since there would be other magazines in the waiting room, if I find this one very very interesting(this hasn't happened even once,... its' just a probability) then I would take it inside and replace it there when I come out.

Hi there Here in the UK there is usually just the one waiting room and that is your lot though if you were waiting in a hospital or something for something more specific then things might be different. I once asked at a when we were waiting for my car to be fixed if my son could take one of their car mags but they said no even though it was at least 3 months out of date! At least I asked! Thank you for your response

If I have an appointment and I sit in the waiting room its very rare that I pick up a magazine,I usually just sit there looking around, watching everyone from a distance until they call my name, well in my surgerys case a number, the system works a little like the deli counter lol you get a number. But I agree they do have some very good magazines in the waiting areas, and I notice that lots of waiting patients have there noses stuck into them.Dont think that I would steal one ,but if it was something that I really really wanted to finish then I might consider just asking the receptionist if I could borrow it,and take it back with next time I was there.

Hi ruby222 Sometimes when they call my number I just wanna shout 'Bingo'! I must admit I have done that at the deli counter in the supermarket, much to my friend's embarrassment!! Cheers

Hi there eigna9187 See I think I would find that annoying if I was reading an article and I turned the page only to find it missing and then I wouldn't be able to finish it then at all!! LOL Thanks

I never take magazines from the doctors office for the obvious reasons, besides most of the magazines at my doctors office are out of date anyway hahaha.

Well certainly in our doctors waiting room for example all the magazines are aimed at the ladies and they are months and months old! Some even years! So I never bother with them, I am more of your boy scout sort, I like to come prepared, I bring my own suduko puzzles or crosswords to fill in, and boy I get through them, well I know how long I have to wait each time, I never get seen on time, so I can finish puzzles and puzzles, it's a great way of passing the time, I had sitting twiddling my thumbs and doing nothing, besides I get less stressed out from waiting!

Hi ya wolfie34 That's a good idea, though personally I have 3 boys usually with me that I have to keep an eye and usually the appointment is for one of them, injections and whatnot! Thanks

i can't take a mag, but sometimes you read great articles and really want to finish reading them but you can't. I would'nt take something that does'nt belong to me, not even a mag

Hi there Sometimes the mags are so old that it wouldn't be worth the hastle of trying to get hold of the copy so that you can finish reading it! Sometimes you are better off not picking up the mag in the first place!! Thanks for your response

i don't do that. i don't do that. i don't just take something something that does not belong to me. cause i believe it is very wrong and very disgusting to take somethings that does not belong to us. and i don't even tear a page from a mag if i like what i have read. i feel that we have to respect the property of other people. what ever belongs to them we should not attempt to get.

The only magazines I read in doctors offices are Readers Digest. If I start an article and don't get to finish it, I leave the magazine and go buy a copy of it when I leave. (That is, if the article intrigued me enough to want to finish it) I have took coupons out of magazines in offices, though!

No, I never did do that that if I will be called without finishing the magazine I would put it down so that others can also read it while they are also waiting and i guess it is not stealing unless you will not bring it home with you......

Very seldom do i grab the magazines but a newspaper yes indeed i will take the opportunity to get the latest news ..particularly sports..I take the newspaper with me and of course the magazines donot become a problem because i donot even get started checking them out ?? I did find a little humour that everyone will agree with what you said about sitting ... they do keep us waiting for our appointments and i just donot understand why visit after visit we end up waiting .When i am at the hospital getting chemotherapy i have a small 12inch DVD portable and watch dvds ..it sure makes the 3 hours pass quickly Good Luck Have a Great Day

In all the doctor's and dentist's waiting rooms i've ever been in (here in the UK), the only magazines they ever have are back issues of Good Housekeeping. So I tend to make sure I take a book with me too.

I usually just read them while I'm in the waiting room. I don't touch them otherwise. I've seen some patients take them from the waiting room and back into the examining room with them. I have seen some of those people bring the magazines back into the waiting room with them too. I just read them in the waiting room and then put them down when called. I don't feel like taking them and then leaving them somewhere they're not supposed to be or something.

Hi ya highflyingxangel It sounds like there are more magazines to read in the other room after your name has been called so you don't need to take the other mag with you, I suppose. Thanks for responding!!

Taking it would definitely be stealing. I have taken one from the waiting room to the exam room, if my doctor is known for making me wait there. And one time, I did ask a receptionist if I might get a copy of an article in the magazine. She allowed me to take the magazine - and wrote my name down in a notebook specifically for that purpose - and asked me to return it on my next visit. On my next visit, I brought it back and they crossed off my name. I had no idea that was an option before I asked.

Hello, whenever I'm in a public place, I'm careful not to hog the magazines. Even if it's just me in the salon or in the office, I make sure that I don't get all the current issues because it's not mine anyway. So if it's my turn I just return the magazine and don't think about it. Other people whoa re waiting might want to read it especially if I found it to be a good read. I think it's really selfish to take the magazine with you when it's a public magazine meant to be shared and read by all. It's not as if you're in the library and you can check out the copy because there are multiple copies anyway.
