Why can't we vote for Best Discussion? Why just Best Response?

The ratings, I believe are for the responses. There is one overall winner in the response category, chosen by the originator of the discussion and then all other responses are given + or - (that is, if we remember to do so, naughty me!). I believe that this just goes towards the earnings of the responder.
As far as discussions go, you could have a really fantastically written discussion question and post it at a bad time. Therefore not that many people will respond to it. Or the opposite could be true. Tons of responses does not mean that the question was necessarily that creative or insightful.

I don't know that you actually benefit from a lot of responses to your discussion. My fiance tested it out and it didn't seem to have any effect having the same size post and 3 responses or a 12 responses. I do think it would be nice to get rid of some of the discussions that are the same thing over and over again.

If you like a discussion, respond. The number of responses is likely to indicate how good a discussion is. It'll then also be featured under the 'hot' tab, and the 'today's top' tab. It might even make the daily newsletter... That's how you vote for best discussion;)
