when do you think is the right age for children to start using computer

hi dear juhi06 i feel there is no need to give a pen or a pencil to the child initially . it may hurt him any day. and then gone are the days when we used to learn writing a b c etc. now when machines are there and tgey write better than handwritten letters. secondly learning computer while doing something will add on to his capacities so it can be introduced to him/her around his/her third birthday or before. as a play machine the child will earn fast!!

There is no particular age to use computers, any person who is educated or who wants to learn can use computers, well, if you allow children to use computers from very young age and see to it that they use it in a decent and appropriate way it is very good, and it helps them learn many new things. Today there is lots of competition and to be in that competition one must always strive harder whatever age he or she may be. so allowing children to use computers from their first grade stage is a wonderful experience even for them too. They can develop their talents using computers in a better way.

Hi Juhi In my opinion they have to start at the age of six under the super vision of parents.Parents should made them to use it properly what ever the thinks they required according to their age..

As Barb said, it would depend on their development. What they would need to be online for. Mental stimulation is important for youngsters, so if they are asking questions about the Internet or a certain subject, I would approve. Just as long as it doesnt become a baby sitter for them. And they would always have to be supervised.

I think computers may be introduced at the age of 3.5 years and later. I realized as I hve a son of 3 and half year age. He likes to watch movies and personal videos. He also likes raing game. Soon I will introduce him omeeducatonl software like learnig alphbet. After introducing children to computers, the parents should guide them properly.

children can learn computer fastly.in my opinion 5-6 years may be the right time to start learning computer to children.as computer is now became a thing which cant be avoided in our life children must learn it from the age before 10.

Computers are definitely the wave of the future. My children were about 10 and 12 when I got a computer and they were on it from then on - supervised of course. There are so many educational things now that are great for children - learning hand-eye coordination, finding the letters on the keyboard, and learning colors and alphabets. They're going to need to know how to use it, so I saw get them started early. Just make sure they can do things without it also!

I think children start using computers at least after they can know how to control themselves. Many adults also sometimes can't control themself when they are playing game on computer. But I think if a family own a computer the child will use computer no matter the age is. My friends child only 2 years old, like to type the keyboard for fun.

All of my grandkids were using the computer by the age of 4. They developed differently, doing different things on the computer. They played games, then started looking for things on the Internet for lessons when they got in school. Children at the age of 4 are very smart! I think the earlier they become accustomed to using a computer, the more apt they are to have a good interest in computer-related jobs as they get older.

the right age for children to start using computer is from their childhood maybe four to five years of their childhood I prefer not to use Internet but the applications of computer should be learnt to the children so that they can increase their knowledge of computer.

Hi friend, Nice topic for those who has children.Children can learn operating the computer ,programming and everything regarding comuter as early as they can.They should study about the operation and learn computer science in schools .But the great question here is when is the right age for them to operate the net.They should not be let alone on the net ,as in their tender age they should learn all positive things first on the net ,as net is the place where both good and bad exists we should be careful about the children operating the net themselves.When they are mature enough to differentiate good and bad they can operate themselves.thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

im a kid , and i think around 12 to 16 , cause u can learn enuff stuff from the net and also u can talk to your friends and also research and help on projects , but make sure u have some sites blocked and also put a time limit or lock on the pc so the kid doesent stay on the pc for years , lol . the computer can get addicting at times . and yeah just have a good eye on what your kid is doing.

For me, when the children is already enrolled in school. When there is a personal computer at home, you can already teached your child as long as he/she know the computer part and it safe. Safety first. I think by the age of 4, 5, and 6. My youngest sister started to used computer at age 10.

My kids started palying computer games about age 3 I would sit with them and help work the mouse and keyboard. Now they are 7 & 8 I let them play online, only on certin sites and they are never alone when they play. I think as long as you observe online use and talk to your kids about what info they can not give to someone they are chating with, they'll be ok. I don't want my kids to be afread of everything, but I want them to be aware of how the bad people try to get kids.

I never could understand why parents let their children use the computer at such a young age. My first two kids (who are now 22 and 18) never really used the computer until they were around 10 -12. But now that my 5 and 3 yr olds have grown up watching their older sisters use the computer they use it every day. They are only on kid sites like PBS kids, Noggin or Playhouse Disney and they mainly play games or listen to songs or stories. They have really learned alot and their time is limited. I do not agree with letting pre teen kids just do whatever they want on the computer and have myspace pages. Even my older kids are monitored as to what they are doing on the family computer.

Well I would say that 3 or 4 is okay if they are under supervision and are playing one of those children educational games. But then my 3rd grader wants a e-mail and tells me all the children in her class have one, so I asked the teacher and she said they did. Wow this amazed me. I don't feel comfortable with this because of all the junk mail I have seen. I guess it depends on what they are doing on the computer.

I think any age would be good as long as they have gotten interested in it. Because of how technology is now, computer literacy is a must these days. Majority of the people in the upper & middle class of our society knows how to operate a computer. I think the bad side is when children learns the computer at a young age and discards all other stuffs like hobbies & sports. They tend to just sit down in front of the computer most of the time and cause them to not take care of their health by lack of exercise and proper diet. I guess the best time for children to use computers is when they know that its a very good tool if used correctly.

Computers are such an important part of life now adays so in my opinion as soon as children are old enough to take an interest in this I think they should learn straight away. The only harm that can come of this as far as I can see is that computer use can damage peoples eyes and you wouldn't want your child to get square eyes. However as they grow up they will no doubt be using a computer at school and at home so it is never a bad thing to get a foot in the door and a solid understanding of how a computer works before they start school.

The best age for children to start using computer should be 5 years old for them to answer the curiousness they have. MY nephew Aeron is starting playing games at age of 5 and now he is very good in computer programs at age 8.
