Why do you have more divorces in the West than in the East?

I think some said about economic differences, yes that's one factor to look at. But for me the biggest factor would be the tradition and norms that is implanted in our culture for generations. Until now the father is still considered as the head of the house in most of the eastern countries, or rather the male is still dominant in eastern society. And divorce was only later implemented in the eastern countries so in effect although divorce is already legal in most of the eastern countries, the close family ties and our tradition are still implemented in our mindset. About a norm that affects hesitation in divorce in eastern country is the "humiliation" of being divorced and the whole family of both sides especially on the women's side would feel ashamed when a marriage ended into a divorce or separation. One more thing is that divorcees (women) could have a hard time finding a serious relationship once she's been to a divorce. It is reality that most men in asian countries would prefer never been married women. So in effect although some women are in a hell marriage, they would stick to their husband because of the fear of humiliation from close friends and family and the fear of couldn't start over after the divorce.

Perhaps the way of life in the west, is much more fast less time for communication between the couple. This leaves less quality time together and then marriage collapse.

It has to do with the economies.
In the east people need each other more to survive.
Where as in the west, people don't need to stay together to survive.
We have the right to get a job and do with our live what we want to do as a women.
I think this has alot to do with it.
As for Love in a marriage. That turns into respect after a couple of years.
It becomes a different kind of love.
Take care.
