My boyfriend is Muslim and since we've been together and he started talking to me and telling me about the religion, I have decided to embrace it. But in this time, I don't know much yet. I am planning to give his father a mug, but this has a print of a mermaid in it, do you think If i will give this as a gift, he will not get disappointed ? I actually bought this one from a coffee shop where we used to drink while he is here, later did I realize about the printed picture on it. Please help. I really want to know...

hello nothing wrong in u embracing islam-it is said in islam that if you marry a girl from other religion and convert her into your religion, you will be really be appeasing the god-so it actually motivates the muslim boys to marry girls from other religion-for example look at the bollywood heroes here in india-all the muslim heroes have married or flirted with Hindu heroines and then just thrown them off like a used towel!

Wow! Thanks for the information! A Muslim can't marry from all other religions. In worst cases a Muslim man can marry only from Christian or Jewish, who believe & worship in ONE God and she having tolerance towards Islam. Whether she want to convert to Islam or not is her choice, no compulsion. What an amazing example you given! Bollywood... LOL. Many people don't care religion and they just have label. They just have Muslim names. Film stars do several things both heroes and heroins they may sleep together, all of them just don't care about the religion and such stuffs. It can't be counted under Islam. What about Bollywood Muslim labelled heroins like Shabana azmi, tabbu, nagma, etc.? didn't the non-Muslim Bollywood stars slept with them? The example is just stupid.

hi yeah as far as I am concerned there is no problem respecting evry religion-i have alwayz done that-but there is a saying-'once bitten twice shy'-i have suffered personally on this front and a muslim was responsible for this-muslims have been responsible for sufferings of many Hindus here-but ur case is different-i wish u happy living with ur guy-may u live a long life together-and happy!!!

this is going too far from the topic of my discussion... but thanks for responding guys.. .and as i said... just don't and stop talking harshly about Islam and Muslims, if you don't know much. I mean... there has to be respect, in everyone, we all have choices. Also, let's try not to make general judgment on anyone...

If you are convinced about Islam religion than go for it. But don't do it because of your boyfriend. What if you have not met your present boyfriend, would you still convert to Islam? I would suggest you to read a lot of books before you decide to convert to a religion whether it is Islam or another. Make sure that you are taking a decision in good faith.

i am not doing this because of my boyfriend. Also, I am thinking that my boyfriend is the one who brought me to this truth. Never did he tell me to change my religion. It was I who started reading, It was I who wants to learn. Thanks for the advice. Also, I am not converting until I know everything... but surely, I am in the process of going there.

thank you. I am reading a lot in this time. He is not in any manner telling me to convert. I am doing this for myself. I have read the Quran and I was amazed, I was moved by the truth that I saw from it... Thank you for telling me this. I feel better also now.
