Do you prefer to Sleep on Soft Mattress or Hard Mattress?

Mattress - Mattress - Hard or soft?

Some people believe that sleeping on Hard Mattress is good for the back. I remember watching a Mattress advertisement when I was young. It says "XXX Brand Mattress, it's as hard as a wooden plank". The brand is quite popular in Asia and I heard it's good for those suffering from backaches. I've slept on one before and it's seriously HARD!! It's really as hard as a wooden plank. I wondered why my friend's parents even bought it for her in the first place. Isn't it the same as wooden plank? Why not make her sleep on a wooden plank? I Love Soft Mattress (not those that are so soft that I will sink in it). Soft Mattress helps me to sleep better. How about you? Do you prefer to Sleep on Soft Mattress or Hard Mattress?

I prefer hard mattrass, but not as hard as a wooden plank, thank you very much HA HA HA HA...When my Mom started suffering from knee pain, she went to a specialist and the doctor told her to use a hard mattrass to support her back better. My Mom's suffering from losing "oil" in her joints due to menopause...so now she's taking Glucosamine and MSM supplements and it helps her SO MUCH. :-))))

I think I should ask my grandma and mother to sleep on harder mattresses. They also have arthritis problems. They are both taking Glocosamine too. I think that's very important.

They take glucosamine, too? Yes, yes, glucosamine is really good and yep, you'd better tell your Mom and granny about this. Plus the doctor also told her to sit on HARD chairs with a HARD back, not on soft sofas.

Hi shui tong, I prefer to sleep on one that is firm enough but not too hard. I just want it to hold me and not let it sink. Then as long as it is clean and not itchy, then can already.

I don't know about others but mine is. I change my sheets every week. If I have a maid and own a laundry shop, I would probably have them changed everyday like Oprah Winfrey. Some people make a home on jungle floor, you know? Hardly clean and non-itchy in the poolgal sense.

Every day!! That's crazy!! I always bathe myself clean clean before sleeping. I don't think I need to change it daily. I change it once every 2 weeks.

I dont sleep on matress. We use another type of thing to sleep which made of cotton. I can sleep good on it. I heard about some mattress which developed by spring. I heard they are good for the back and once I slept on it. Might be that type of mattress is good for back but not good for sleep. Now, sound sleep is important than any other health issu to me. So, I dont prefer any type of matress! Happy day!

Hi Poohgal, I don't have a strong back, and often suffer from lower back pains. We now have a hard matress; but not as hard as a plank. The matress will help support my back when I sleep. I didn't realise this earlier - often woke the next day, with back pains!

I too like soft mattress which makes me feel cozy, especially when it is raining and the weather out side is really cold. But during hot weather i rather prefer a hard mattress, i have not yet developed any backaches so at this moment i'm not bothered about it.

I think what you want is a firm mattress. I don't like soft ones becomes even if it doesn't sag, it somehow makes my back hurt. At first it will be really comfortable, but then after 8 hours of sleep my muscles will hurt. I have a slight back problem, so I need the firm mattresses that don't bend.

My mattress is not so soft that I will sink in. It's soft and cosy enough for me to sleep soundly.

I would prefer a firm but not so hard mattress.I feel much comfortable. In private hospitals their mattresses are firm no backaches only pocket aches.Hard to sleep on soft mattresses because I'm afraid to sink because I'm quite heavy.

I prefer to sleep in a hard mattress because at some point it should be uncomfortable for us to wake up rather than being very soft that we sleep in it for days...

That is a good question for me right now. We just got a new mattress from my mom since they just bought a new one for themselves. I love it. It has the pillowtop on it and it is very soft.

Hi,dear friend, For me I have to admit that I like to sleep on the soft Mattress as well ,for it is much more comfortable when we are sleeping on it ..I like the comfortable and soft condition when I am asleep.I even don't understand why must we sleep on a Hard Mattress ,Now I am clear .that is for the health especially for the back concerns..for our health ,I think we should sleep on that Hard Mattress.

I think one should sleep on the not so soft and not so hard. The mattress that would not make your back bend. Though I would really love to sleep in a soft matress but since I had read that it would be drastic for my back I chose the middle one, not too soft and not to hard because I think sleeping in a hard mattress would also make your back ache. And not just the mattress but one should carefully chose a pillow not to hurt ones neck. happy sleeping. ;)

HI Poohgal: I would prefer to sleep on "any" mattress right now that the springs aren't pokin me in my already sore back and sore ribs... I'm not sure how old this mattress is either but its OLD ENOUGH and its done its thing for years now; I wish I had the money to buy one of those tempurpedic mattress's they look heavenly..(sigh)! but right now I have two old quilts folded up to block the pokin springs on mine it helps boy does it help but mine needs to be tossed out to the mattress graveyard where ever that is..(G)!

For me, personally, it has to be kind of in between. If I sleep on a very hard mattress, I most certainly won't get any sleep. The way my body is shaped, if I sleep on a soft mattress, it would be uncomfortable a little bit. So, my mattresses have to be a mixture of both.
