What is the greatest movie of all time?

I'm so sorry for coming in so late. However, it is very difficult to select an all time great movie. Whenever I select a name, another name crops up to my mind, so I'm confused. Right now I'm thinking about Transformers, which is having great special effects.

The problem is the phrase " of all time". I have favorites but they are from the 40's on.Like you, I just can't pick one. I have my favorites but are they the greatest of all time? I don't know.I guess I could pick my favs of each decade. Is that okay?Here I go. From the 30's my favorite is The Gay Divorcee , In the 40's it is Casablanca, 50's An American in Paris, the 60's The Sound Of Music, The 70's The Godfather, the 80's Out Of Africa, 90's Usual Suspects, and now, The Departed.If I had to choose from this list, my all time favorite is Usual Suspects. But the best film of this list is Casablanca.

If you take viewer base then probably Sholay is the most seen movie of all times apart from being the best one. Hollywood movies are seen in US, England, Australia traditionally. But their combined userbase is far less than that of Indian movie going population. Now a days hollywood movies are seen in different parts of the world. So movies like Spiderman, Titanic etc get a lot of userbase. So when people get more choices their decisions get changed. about which thing makes a movie great is not the things that you have told but it is the viewer. the audience actually matters the most. Sholay is the greatest movie for one fourth of the people who have ever seen any movie. But you might not even heard of its name. Still then I advice you to see the blend of all type of emotions and typical bollywood masal called Sholay.

Geez... I don't know, really hard to say!! But I liked "Gone with the wind" cause it has a little bit of everything: Drama, Comedy, Romance, Action...

Will i guess it is the titanic base on gross sales, And is dark nightis the 2nd base on what i have read in the news paper. This two movies is a huge success in movie industry in the entire world. This two movies in one of my favorite movie too, but still i have so many favorite movies, i like action triller, comedy and drama including con air, face off, die hard, Harry potter,local movies and ect.

I really struggle with this one, I think it's difficult because one of my favourites is The Wizard of Oz, but I don't think I'd say it's the best movie out there. I'd say one of the best I've seen in a long time is A Beautiful Mind, in terms of acting, story, etc. What do you really look for in a movie though? Should it be enjoyable, clever, funny, moving, visually impressive? I think it's really hard to define.
