I'm not entirely sure where I sit on this one, because on the one hand it is a use of extra words, but on the other hand I do think that those pleasantries add to the discussions and comments. It's nice to see everyone being so friendly with each other. I'm sure Mylot is aware of what's going on, and that it factors into the algorithm somehow though I couldn't say for sure, as no one can.

I just wondered if it is only the the number of alphabets that are being taken into account.

Does the word count really matter my friend? I mean you are not going to get much more surely for putting in an extra word, phrase or sentence? I never realize it or analyzed it to be honest, to me it's people being friendly, some like to express themselves in words and personally I like it, to me it don't matter if someone has put extra words in, I'd rather that than one word answers. It does make me smile however when people put happy mylotting and I've seen it on many occasion by different people, maybe it's catching!

I think that people should write the way they feel comfortable writing. I think god Bless you is a lot nicer than trying to tell someone eo eff off (notice my spelling didn't violate one TOS rule, I was just using that as an example). I haven't really seen this from my friends. As long as I can understand what is being written that's fine. MyLot shouldn't doc points for politeness.

Hi Bala........looks like today you are not in good mood.....,I am always using all the above words.......they make others happy, they show that you care for others and their effort, they show that when someone is sharing their problems with you then you are sorry for him and share his pain.......if these polite words are not shared , how will we come closer ,how will we become friends, how will we feel comfortable with stranger sitting miles away from us. Why do you feel that these words are used only for earning some Penny's.......these words are worth millions Bala......they are symbol or peace and happiness, humanity and emotional attachments..........Don't you feel happy if some one says God bless you.......mylot is a family.......so why should family remain formal.......and not enjoy informal closeness......so I think there is nothing wrong in using such polite words after all they spread happiness and bring smile on lips.......Have a nice day Bala.........I really mean this, it is not for earning....ha ha ha.........

Yes, I see this kind of extra phrases a lot. And I'm not quite sure how should I react when I see them. First of all I feel somebody only tries to raise his words count for a response and I don't like that. But on the other hand I know some people are very religious so maybe that's why they write things like God bless you. And there are those, who write their responses liek tehy would write a letter so they add Good morning and a "proper" ending to their posts. I guess it all depends on post quality. If I see that extras aren't a majority in a post then I'm okay with that.

I have seen many mylotter doing this and even myself have done that a few times... but I never thought that they did that for extra words to increase the word count in their discussion to earn more, and even if they do... I do not see much problem with that as long that doesnt disturb other mylotter and many that find it to be friendly ^^

Hey bala i use God bless at the end of my response and discussion which i start , by blessing some one does it mean that im just adding a word and making my discussion/response look bigger? I dont think as im doing it in a good sense , by just adding two words no one will say we are just making the discussion/response lengthier or we are going to earn tons and tons here or anywhere.. i wonder whether to use this word here in this place but then i dont want to change for anyone.. GOD BLESS !

I have noticed this too but I really do not think it adds to their earnings here. I have not tried to do it myself. Alot of people say that Mylot pays more for quality but I have noticed that it pays me best for quantity of posts.

Well, i have noticed some members who just copy and paste these pleasantries... and i also think it is plain cheating... but there is nothing we can do about it... since only the mylot admin can delete those... or send them a message that those copy paste pleasantries are not allowed...

I tend to write those phrases you mention above but they are not used to make up more words. I choose to respond to a particular discussion because I have something to share. Since I have something to share, I will not face the problem of having nothing to type. Happy mylotting

true bala, but not only these words but a few users i say who while starting a discussion says thanks for taking out valuable time for going thru my discussion and replying, take care, good day, good weekend. have a nice time...and god knows what not. a few users actaully start making a personal conversation in the discussions and asking for snaps or personal ids, or like how long will you be online all the history just here in the discussions by adding comments of such personal touch juz to earn money. i think it doesnt matters as at the end of the day partial part of mylot family is here for money. one reason could be this as well that replying thanks for the response and all these kind of words one would right as one is short of words, and at the same time would want to make its discussion live and active so that the discussion should be traceable and would get more responses.

I have never exactly done a word count here on mylot. When I say Good Morning to a person I really mean it. I very often put the words "Have a nice day" to my close friends here. It does not mean I am increasing my words here. And frankly I hardly check my daily earnings here. I just post in as many responses I can during the day and sometimes look up at my total earnings. Have not checked the day to day earnings at all so the word count does not matter to me.

Most of them are definitely deliberate. This is a free forum and anyone can pour their heart out with as many words as they can.No one can say no t that. There are a few who build up words. And again it is none of our business. This is just a discussion on that subject and nothing personal against anyone.

I've noticed a few people including the same sign off in every discussion and response, but I don't think it makes any real difference to their earning power. Surely that is affected only by the quality of their writing, not the quantity?

Yes I have seen such phrases in some discussions but not together and i am more inclined to believe that those who use them do so sincerely and not just to get extra points or earnings. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and consider that they have no ulterior motive for using such regular everyday phrases. I believe they also know that MyLot has a system of computing earnings where extra words which do not have any relevance would not be given any merit. Have more faith in your fellow MyLotters and I do sincerely wish you happy posting!

what I mean is that we should not jump to conclusions without sufficient basis like saying they use such extra words just to increase their word count and asking if MyLot is a sucker for such. this gave the impression that you were criticizing those who used such words and phrases. If what you aimed to do is to generate discussion, it could have been stated in a better way. Anyway, I maintain that it is quite possible that those who used such words and phrases do so sincerely.

If the other myLotters are like myself, they genuinely mean the extra words placed in a discussion. If I tell someone to have a good weekend, I really mean it. Don't have any idea if myLot excludes those particular sayings when considering earnings. It could be they are simply overlooked for any word count. Sure wish myLot would share all their guidelines in finer detail.

I myself do keep using these terms which you have mentioned. But I never even thought that its to increase the word count and all that. Its just being friendly. These pleasantries are just used to express yourself.I don't think we actually earn by this.As it is however much you spend time doing mylot you hardly see your earning graph going up.But you get the satisfaction of making friends, getting appreciation and you feel you have spent your free time doing something qualitatively.I really hope these guys increase the money so that we get a boost and that will make many more active. Its time they do something about that.

I am guilty as charred! lol.. I agree that I do resort to them specially on my friends' posts. But that has nothing to do with the word count. Most definitely, I would say that its my earnest thoughts that I put across. (And also its not clear as to if at all it increases our earnings. Most probably it doesn't. ) So when I say, Have a great day. Missing yo. How are ya doing?...I sincerely mean it! Have a great day, Bala. I miss you. Happy Monday. PS: Now your turn to pick on those

I don't necessarily think they are doing this to increase their word count..some people automatically add particular words at the end of their replies out of habit, almost like a "signature"

It is interesting that you mention that. I still don't understand what they go off of to pay you. I know the more you participate, the more money you earn, but how much do you get for each discussion or response? It seems like only $0.01 to me. I'm still pretty new though, and you look experienced. Does adding extra words really work? I have noticed "Happy Mylotting" on a lot of posts.

I have a lot of very good friends here.I know how intelligent and witty they are.At times I yearn for more from them. This about a few who just regularly add two to three sentences to each and every response to all the discussions.
