Should LEGIT work-at-home jobs be made more available?

When I say work-at-home, I'm referring to fields that involve computers/internet/phones. The only ones I know of that offer this are in a few medical billing companies and that is only after you've worked with them for sometime. I was thinking, why not make this more available in other fields as well (i.e call centers, etc.)? Of course, I'm not saying give it to new employees right off the bat. Have them work on site for 3-5 years, and if they stick around long enough and have a good attendance/track record, offer it to them. What's everyone think?
