Why do websites pay after you earn a certain amount?

Most paying websites I have been on only pay once I gain a certain amount. It usually takes aleast a month to gain the required money or points, however. I just would like to be able to gain money immediately so I could spend it on items I currently need. What is the reason that it takes so long to get money?

If there are thousands of members on a site and they all expect to get paid after earning every dollar, they would not have enough hours in the day to keep up with payouts, much less anything else.
What you're asking is pretty ludicrous.
