It always filled my heart to see my sons grow up my best memories are when they learned to walk talk and were potty trained. Now it is my youngest starting highschool my older son getting his license, it also makes me sad to see that they are getting on in their lives and won't be around much longer. I guess part of being a parent is knowing when to let go.

I cannot imagine how difficult being at that phase must be! I know for my own part, I am dumbfounded that my daughter is almost 4 years old, in pre-school and playing soccer! I remember holding her in the hospital as though it were yesterday and it saddens me to know end to think that in just a "blink of the eye", she's already as old as she is. I know that the next few years will go equally as fast and that I will be standing where you are now, looking at them as they head off to college. Letting go may be part of it, but I imagine it's a difficult part of it. Good luck to you.

Listen K, you cannot do justice to describing what it feels like to watch your kids grow. It sometimes feels like watching yourself grow and having that belief that you have been given another opportunity to correct the mistakes of your past. You feel bigger than you are being responsible for the decisions and welfare of others- your kids. Talking about this, is massaging my pride as a father.

The arrival of my son has completely changed my lie.
I have watched him develop and grow and he gets better every day. For many years I was only able to see him alternate weekends and felt excluded from much of his life by his mother. He now lives with me and I have the pleasure of talking with him every day and can see the changes now.
Whilst I know he will leave me soon, I now have three or four years to catch up for the 12 years I missed - I hope we will always remain friends as I am with my father.
