It's Weekend yet my kids have been up earlier than on a school day!!

It's true, from Monday to Friday when it is time to get my children up for school at 7.50 am I have to fight to get them out of bed, it is a nightmare! Yet this weekend they have been up and wide awake at 7am, 7am! I cannot believe that they have been up this early, and although the oldest is 8 and pretty capable of making breakfast and everything I do not like them being downstairs on their own so I have got up with them. Are your children like this, or do they sleep in a bit later allowing you a little lie in? What is the earliest your children have had you up of a weekend?

Hi Rose! My boy can be up any time between four and five and be ready for the day but generally it is between six and seven...Not often is it eight...Doesn't matter if it is a school day or not! This morning it was four and he would not go back to sleep as he wanted breakfast! It is seven-thirty and already it has been a long day! LOL ~Heavens~

Hi Gemini. Even 7.50am during the week would be a lay in LOL. This morning Sunday I was up at just after 6 and so was my son and the puppy which meant trying to keep them quiet until at least nine when I heard other kids outside up and out playing. We are usually up 6.30 most weekdays 7 at the very latest. I have even tried letting my son stay up late on a Saturday night to watch the funniest things and the X factor but even that doesn't work. The earliest though is usually 6am bless (not LOL) I am usually ok after a couple of cups of tea though. Huggles. Ellie :D

When he was younger around 5/6 my son used to wake up at 5.30am on a Sunday jumping on my stomach to wake us up. I am almost stoned in sleep that no matter how hard he tries I always remain in a deep sleep

I am now beginning to think that I am actually quite lucky to be sleeping until 7.30am!

ohh regardless of what day it is.. mine have always slept for the same length of time. (give or take a little bit obviously) in order to be able to sleep in a little bit myself.. i let em stay up a little bit later on non-school nights... same as you, if theyre awake, im awake right along with em. unless mal is home and awake and can keep a watchful eye/ear.. thosere the days i indulge in glorious naps in the middle of the day for a while there.. the sprite was under the impression that if it was dark out.. it was time to sleep. in the winter she was putting herself to bed at 4pm LOL but in recourse.. she also beleived that if the sun was even slightly on the horizon lighting up a smidge of the sky.. it was time to be awake. her father also taught her to wake me by grabbing hold of my eyelids and peeling them open sooo 5am would roll around.. and id wake up with little fingers forceably opening my eyes up and a smiley face beaming down at me exclaiming "its daytime mommy! yer awake!!"

I let mine stay up later on a non school night, but you know it makes no difference they are still up earlier! I am glad they do not peel my eyelids back though, that would be horrible!

I have found that is the same with me - not about kids being up early but me. When I have to get up for work I am fighting to get out of bed but when its my day off, I am awake early and cant get back to sleep. I know when I looked after my boyfriend's niece (who was 3 or 4 at the time), she would be awake early but would stay in her room until I poked my head round the corner. Not sure if she is like that with her parents but she does have a 14 year old brother so would probably go downstairs with him.

I do not mind, but it would be nice just to have an extra hour! You watch, tomorrow morning they will be a nightmare to get up again!

Maybe tell them that if they wake up they have to stay in their room until 8am or something. At least that way, they can play safely in their room and you get an extra hour!!

Yes. Our kids have the same attitude in waking up early during weekends. I also wonder why they are used to it. Well maybe they are in a rush to play all day with no worries in their homeworks.

Hi gemini, wow..that is very early! maybe hungry? hehehe! Anyway, hubby and I used to extend sleeping time during weekend, no kids yet so, we are still having all the freedom! When I was younger, mom will always wake up as early as 530 - 6 am in the morning, and SIster and I also used to join her to have some milk to coffee that time! So, I grew up waking up early!

My son is pretty good at getting up when I wake him up in the mornings for school from Tues-Friday, but on Mondays, it's hard for both of us LOL He's always up before us in the weekends and only when I have to work early, then I'm up before him.

I had to go and wake them this morning, I was shouting them for 5 minutes, amazing how they were up so early yesterday.

Hello gemini_rose. Usually on weekend, my son sleeps late on bed till about nine in the morning, but when he has some appointment with his classmates, he will still get up early as usual...

My 5 year old son is usually the first up, he gets up before 7 most days, doesn't matter if there is school or not. I have long learned to just let them be in the morning so I can get my sleep. They usually just sit and watch TV until I come down and tell them to find something more constructive to do.

I think it's normal for most kids to wake up earlier on weekends because they are excited that they could do a lot of things like play and watch tv. It's really quite annoying that you have to wake up earlier on rest days like this but for sure if you see how happy your kids are on weekends all that tiredness will go away.

yes it is probably that, I do not mind, not really, it is just nice to think that I can have a lie in one day!
