How many hours a week do you work? Do you want to work more or less?

I work a full-time job of 40 hours a week and as extra work I also work a Saturday
every other weekend. I would like to not work the Saturday job, but I did cut down
to every other weekend - for over a year I did every Saturday, but it was really
wearing me down and I didn't have as much time with my family. We really
needed the money, but now we are trying to save and conserve more so I can
work a little less. How is your situation?

Hi. Officially, I'm supposed to work only 40 hours every week. However, the type of job that I do is so demanding that overtime (most of the time, without pay) has become quite the norm rather than the exception. So, obviously, I'd like to work less hours than I currently do and the only way I think I could achieve that is to increase my productivity during actual office hours so my superiors would have no real reason to keep me from going home when the clock strikes 5:30 - which is easier said than done, by the way, but that really is my goal.

Hmm, meal and transportation allowances are only claimable if we are allowed to charge for overtime so basically, it's kinda useless. XP
About the efficiency thing, well, I guess you have a point about it backfiring and people expecting the same level from me all the time, but I guess I'd rather live with that than be forced to stay long hours in the office. The place I work is quite far from where I live (around an hour or so by train) so I try to leave as early as possible.
And yes, my superiors work longer hours than me. I actually am relatively lucky in terms of the time I can leave our office. =)

I am a student and she came very hard.
After hours i go to work where i can:
agent of public transport, tourist guide in a place where i live. I do this just to make me a better future and a place aof work protected. It is good to work over normal hours because you can earn better but is bad for you health and your Humman psyche. Cons are working additional hours
Thanks verry much.

I'm pretty spoiled in my job. I am a painter/drywaller and the crew leader, but also the owners sister in law...so he lets me pick my own hours. I am a hard worker and I usually put in a full 40 hours. But I'm also almost 40 so its getting harder on my body. I also want to be a good role model for my crew, but I have been known to skip out an hour before quitting time and sometimes take a day off. LOL
