"Lehman Brothers" -- What is the actual news..?

For the past one week back, suddenly one find morning, we heard the news in the televisions says that there is some bad news about the "Lehman Brothers"... Due to this news, the Share market went down drastically, and the same down trend will sustain for the whole week.. Due to that, there may be some rumour that some of the Indian banks also gets affected, But i dont know the actual news behind that.. Who is "Lehman brothers" what they are doing?? are they bankers?? whether they become bankrecpt?? or what?? How for this will affect our indian market?? how long this problem will sustain in our indian stock market?? Please give me the real picture behind this market clash..
