Hi, people, I'm thinking of buying a video camera. I've browsed through the internet but I want to find people who've already used one and who's happy with the one they have. My budget is around €500 (around $800 USD???). I want a video camera that takes decent videos in low light (namely indoor)...especially because here in Lapland in winter it gets dark a lot even outside, so I just want to make sure that I can take good videos even in low light. Other than that, the battery life must be decent, too he he he... THANKS for anyone who can help!!!

Have you tried looking for something from SONY? Are you into digital camera stuff? Or you're in need of a professional thing?

I've got a Sony digital camera, but right now I'm looking for a purely video camera. I don't need a professional video camera, just for home movies, but I want it to be good at taking videos when it's not too bright inside or outside.

video camera - sony camera
mini dv is highly recommended as it;'s cheap, easy to store and generally more reliable than other options. plus the best part is that the resolution is still better compared with consumer branded HDD and dvd options. canon and sony for a simple camera are pretty much the same. they are both good quality and are easy to use. the slight esge would be the canon as some shoot widescreen, this is a good bonus if available. prices vary greatly on cams depending on features. expect to pay around US$300 for a good starting out cam. find a comparison site and do some homework on features vs price. hope it helps and good luck
