I have a scroll saw but I haven't used it in a long time. When I did use it, I really enjoyed making things for people. But it seemed like I was always changing the blades because they would break. One of the main reasons I'm not using it now is that our garage is so full of "stuff" LOL. Hopefully we can get it cleaned out this winter so I can get back at using it again. I like to make things for people but haven't done it in awhile. Have you ever made anything with a scroll saw?

My husband bought a used scroll saw along with a lot of other woodworking equipment recently, but he hasn't used it yet. What kinds of things did you make with yours?

I used to do a lot of work with the scroll saw. I haven't these past few years since my divorce (I didn't get 'custody' of the saw lol) I used to make all kinds of things with it, signs, shadow things (you know...like the fisherman sitting that looks like a shadow person) My big dream is to get another one and re-do the gingerbread on the house. It's an 1860's house in good shape, but I've always wanted to add gingerbread scrolling to the porch, entry, etc.
I do have my own woodwork shop in a corner of the garage. I re-arranged the garage so I could have this space and be able to actually get more done (plus it's nice having it more organized.) I have all kinds of other saws, from table saws to radials, and hand-saws, but I really miss the scroll saw. Right now I'm working on home improvement projects that take a lot of sawing and such. I'm doing more wood fixing repairs than actual crafting right now. Hopefully this winter I'll be done with annual repairs and get into some more wood crafts. I'd like to make my one daughter and hubby a gazebo type bird-feeder for Christmas. Woodworking is fun, I can't imagine not doing it!

I have worked with both. I really preferred a bandsaw to a scrollsaw. I guess because the blades were studier and I wasnt as chicken of the bandsaw. I like my fingers too much!! I did a lot of woodcrafts and used pine instead of thin wood, so I had to have the better blade.
Another funny, my hubby got me a drill press for Christmas one year. I was thrilled. I told my dad I bet he never thought he would have a duaghter that was thrilled to get a drill press for Christmas! LOL!

That sounds nice. I would love to have the garage cleaned out and have an area for woodworking. My husband is trying to work on that but with his job, he doesn't have much time. He also likes to do woodworking. Maybe when he retires, we can have more time to work on it together. Thanks for your reply.

I just started to learn woodworking. My son and I have been collecting some woods from the park nearby our house, and finally I saw the woods into smaller pieces yesterday. Luckily, my mum has bought me a new saw, which is easier to saw. I have saw a bigger wood, and my son wants to stand on it and roll. I'll use the rest of smaller pieces of woods as "wood gnomes", make some cloths and hats for them. I haven't think of any other crafts that I can make yet, hopefully I'll learn to make airplane or train for my son. It's really fun sawing the woods, though it's tiring.

Hello lilcee
No I have never used a scroll saw and am not sure what one is!! I do like to make things for people but my forte is really my handwritting. I wrote the place names for my brother's wedding and have been asked to do the same for my dad's wedding by his fiance.
