Hi, I a guy who works from 9 to 5 for the weekdays. That is also the school days for my children. I start going thru with my children school homework after we all had our dinner at 8pm. You must be strict towards your children especially with their school subject. No matter how tired you are, you must show them that this is their future. Cause without education you will go nowhere. Good luck.

Learning should be taught in school . This is what the teachers are paid for but if I have to help them then I will . I will teach my children what they need to at home but really feel that when it comes to school work that they should do this in school . I am not a teacher and may not be able to teach them all they need to in school work but I can teach them about life and what they need to learn .

When my children were small, it was mostly all about reading, and we played lots of board games, which is an excellent way to learn. They were avid early readers. I always made sure there were plenty of school supplies or whatever they needed, or wanted for any projects they had to do. I listened, when they talked. I know you have children in a whole range of ages, it must be a real challenge. You can listen, when you drive them places, listen, when you cook supper, listen, as you do clean up, fold laundry. You learn a lot about what they are needing from you when you do this. Just knowing that you hear what they are saying sends the message that they are important and that you want them to succeed.

I sit with my kids every night and help them with their homework . I do agree this is importatn and we need to take the time to do this with our children but sometimes I feel they give them to much to do when they are really young . I work and have three little children to take care of and sometimes it is hard to sit down and get this done but I do it anyway because i want the best for my kids in life .

I would try to spend an hour quality time near my son to watch what is he doing at school, if he needs any help with his homework, trying to explain things that he has not understood at school.

Hi sam...
I have my grandsons every day..I pick them both up from school..The one is in first grade and the little one is in preschool...
The oldest brings homework home and we do it together..He also has little paper books and usually there are at least 4 of them..He reads them to me...
I have lots of learning games and cards for them here...I could open my own school...*smiles*...
We play monopoly every day...right now we are playing the .com edition...they take turns being the banker...they are really good at counting money and they are learning to give change...We played clue on Sunday and they make assumptions as to who did it, with what, and in what room...very good learning experiences...
I know there are alot of moms and dads that work...as my daughter and her husband do...so when the boys are here I do all that school stuff with them....I love to help them learn..everyday is a new learning experience here....the oldest will read books on line...and they play educational games online...They are very creative and love to learn...
The youngest (4) loves to spell words..and each new word has to have one more letter than the previous word...He has a 14 letter word right now..but we ran out of the letter "e"...he spells them with waffle block letters...He puts one word under the other and they make steps..because each new word has one more letter to it....
"note to self"..... get more waffle letters from Walmart.....
I know, I am rambling....*smiles*..

My son is supposed to work on his homework right after his after school snack. This is the time that I am usually in he kitchen making dinner, so he gets to sit at the kitchen table and ask for help if he needs it. We go over it together and then he does it as much as he can by himself. After dinner he reads a book to his sister and then takes a test on it the next day. In the morning time we go over his spelling words over breakfast.
My daughter is not in school yet but we are always working on something with her. She is 19 months old and has most of her body parts down. She can count, but not always in the right order, but she will count with you correctly if you count with her.
We have been going to the library once a week lately and getting books and activities for the kids to do during the week too.

We have children in the family and they are supported one hundred percent with their homework, its a very important part of their progress ,they need to practice their reading and their spelling when they are young,it helps them do well in class,my neice has homework most evenings and she is just six,it may only be the odd few pages to read, but her parents always make sure that she has done it before she goes to bed.

My kids are ages five and three and I am teaching them at home, they don't go to regular schools, we just study here, but not typical, sometimes we do like we are in a classroom but of the times, I teach them when they inquire, I grab every opportunity to teach them new things. I let them watch and they question a lot. I gave truthful and informative answers to them.
