Does anybody seriously know any worse cases of child abuse?

I don't know if we can call one case of abuse worse than another, but i do know a case that was bad. But it was more of an neglect thing. There was a couple in my town that didnt clean there house, didn't wash there kids, the youngest one hadn't had its diaper changed in so long that when the authorities went to take the diaper off, the childs skin came with it where the diaper adhered to the childs skin. The children, which i can't remember if there were three or four, were sickly and malnourished. The parents were convicted of child abuse and got almost 20 years in prison for it.

I worked at a shelter for women, who were victim of abuse. I worked mainly with the children. And some of the things that these kids had to go through is just ... unbelievable! Some of us can't even begin to imagine what these kids go through. It hurts me just to think of it now.

Unfortunatly I know some and its about a few people that I know. They are adults now. They seem to be doing very well. I have read a few books that have had some abuse content, but I have a really hard time reading these things since I too had this experiance when I was younger. And reading books, learning more on it actually makes me even more irrate that its going on at all.

Though I have not read this book, I did see the author on Oprah. From that alone I decided it was not really a book I wanted to read. I don't think I could take it. I might read it some day though.
