That is a curious question - It reminds me of a time in French class when we were supposed to cook a french dish, and then explain in French how to cook it. One group of girls decided to make French Toast - which incidentally is not French - lol!

I've always wondered that too! ; ) My relatives say that fries were created in or somewhere near France. Some were joking and said the French claimed fries first, and some say that it is called like that because it is. : O Everytime I ask, I get a different answer..So, I have no idea. I think they were created somewhere near France though, since it makes the most sense.

From France or Belgium. The history of the french fries is a bit uncertain there. But part of Belgium is french speaking and used to be part of France anyway... But that's probably how they got their name here as relating back to some french chef, who introduced it here. Anyhow, most countries use something that translates to fried potato.

They are from Belgium and the only French connection is that they caught on really fast in France as they did in America. So why not American fries??? The mystery goes on! LOL happy mylotting
