I just found this odd story about a man who was convicted of robbing a toddler's piggy bank. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/O/ODD_PIGGY_BANK_ROBBERY?SITE=MIDTF&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT The man was sentenced to six years in prison for stealing $20 from a 2 year old girl's piggy bank as she slept. This article was about a burglar who broke into another family's home, but it made me curious, do you think it is ok to take money from your child's piggy bank, and under what circumstances?

No, it isn't okay. I posted a discussion about this once and got some varying responses. Adults should NOT take things that belong to their children, including money that belongs to the children. This is a form of stealing and abuse - this happens a lot with child stars. It could happen with anybody though. I don't understand how someone could justify it, since there are so many parents who have a gigantic fit if their CHILDREN STEAL FROM THEM. Of course that is wrong too! I'm glad the guy got 6 years in jail for stealing $20 from a two year old's piggy bank. He's an idiot and an example should be made of him. If someone stole money from my daughter's piggy banks, I would hope I could hurt them severely, then call the police and have them arrested and jailed. If they need $20 that bad, there's a McDonald's hiring down the street!!!

definitely NO...If i need the money badly i will ask permission from my child..My teaching to my children is very clear.."Stealing is a sin." and don't ever steal somebody's property.. As a parent we should be the role model of our children...
