we lost a lot of trees here in Springfield, Ohio. Here's a video a student took at the university a few blocks from my house: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0d8Em6IH9c It's scary what wind can do. We had gusts up to 90 mph! We have such beautiful, huge old trees here, I'm glad we didn't lose more of them. Did any of you hundreds of miles north of Ike sustain any damage?

Wow, it is hard to believe that you got some of the effects of hurricane Ike up in Ohio. Do you usually get the hurricanes up that way?

I think this is the first time in history! We might get some rain if it's a big hurricane but never anything like this. I'm so blessed that my house had no damage and I was smart enough to have emergency supplies ready.

Wow! That is so scary. I live in South Florida, so I know how scary the hurricanes can be. Just put up the shutters and stay prepared or else get out of town before it hits. That is really the only thing you can do. I am glad that you are safe though and didn't suffer any losses there from Hurrican Ike. BTW, did anything happen to St. Bernard's Church there in Springfield, Ohio? My family was from there originally many many years ago. I'm just curious. Thanks. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

We have a little St. Bernard's cemetary here and it fared very well. I had no idea what wind could do. These winds were not as strong as a category 2 or 3 hurricane like you guys have down there. It was so damaging, so strong that I can't imagine having sustained winds more than these were and still have things standing! I didn't realize how violent a hurricane could be and if I was ever down south and they wanted me to evacuate, I'd go! It's pretty scary, even without the rain! I don't know why people who could escape it would stay at home.

One good thing about it is that I got to know my neighbors other than waving or saying hi, and everyone was so nice. That was the silver lining in the whole situation.
