You and your child will have to work at this together. Your child will be ready in no time but your patience is required. Do not push your child or scold him when things don't go smoothly at first. Be patient. And be extra observant so you'll know when he has to go. There are sure signs that you will see when he needs to pee or poo.
I didn't have too much trouble or headaches over my kids when I was training them which I am so thankful for. But every child is different and their developments also differ so don't compare your child with others who are already potty trained. He will be ready when he's ready.

18mo might be a little to early. You can probably introduce the concept to him but don't push him too much. Your child will decide on his own when he feels like potty training. Most around 2 and 1/2 years or so. Some may be ready sooner or later. I had the basics of potty training done before my kids were 3, but my nephew just turned 3 and he still doesn't really want to try. All kids are different. Just look for the signs of when he's ready. Knowing he's icky and wanting a change right after doing something. those are signs that he's becoming aware of whats going on. from there you can slowly introduce your potty seat, maybe buy some books and videos and just have a lot of patience.

I potty train mine when they are ready. My first was about 17 months old. My second is still figuring it out and she is 27 months. However i had a friend and both of hers were potty trained at 12 months, all I could say was wow.

My son wasn't ready until he was almost 2 years old. But, every child is different and will show some signs when there ready.I hope you have better luck than I did.My son love to pull his diaper, pull up, or undies off and then poooh in front of his potty for some odd reason. It took forever it seemed like to get him to actually sit and pooh LOL!!!Good luck
