makes you wonder.

I was at the store the other night, in the check out lane. The person in front of me was complaining to the cashier about how gas prices are going up and they had jumped from $3.58 to $3.99 in one morning. Well our gas comes from Texas and with Ike well it went sky high in one morning.
Anyway I approached the counter and she looked at me and said " I was in Katrina and lost everything, the hurricane is devastating but after wards is the hardest part. Realizing everything you had is now gone and you have absolutely nothing." I didn't have much to say, I didn't know what to say then she looked at me and said " Well now I know what people really care about."
Well I have been thinking about it ever since and mind you I have not complained about gas prices once. But it's true people have lost everything and all people care about is their gas prices. Is there still compassion out there?
I mean sure I have done my share of complaining before, but this made me search my soul.

That definitely makes you think and grateful at the same time. I know if I lost everything I would not be thinking twice about gas prices. I suppose as humans we want things to always be convenient and when they're not we complain about them. I thank God I still have my family, my home, and my possessions. It does make you think...

I am great full too. but I don't think it's due to being human I think it's society that has brought us to the point where we always want things convenient.

Yes it does make you wonder. Many people don't seem to care much (or at all)about anyone else who isnt in their immediate social circle. It probably doesn't even dawn on people who don't live in or near the crisis areas what is really going on.
It is easy to watch a whole episode on tv and 5 min after changing the channel, you can't remember what you were just watching. That is because we do not actually PAY ATTENTION anymore...
We are still at war right now, but most people live their lives as if 9/11 never happend, and that someone they know might have immediate family out fighting for their lives, and our lives, or anyone elses lives right at this very moment.
But all they care about right now, is how much it costs to drive back and forth to work and McDonalds everyday...

Most of us these days forget about what is really important.I can also say I have been one to gripe about the gas prices. We should be thankful we have our lives and not always B***H about everything that is so not as important.

I agree thank you for your comment. I think sometimes we just get so caught up in our own things we forget about other people.
