One of the top reasons of the vehicular accident today is using of cellphone while driving. That is according to the studies, and it was observed that 5 times higher the cause of accident in the streets because of it. There are some politician now are pushing of total ban on using of cellphone while driving.Great move...Isn't it?
What is your SAY on this?

Total ban on mobile phone usage while driving will be the most welcomed initiative. this is a need of time. Govt can make rule to fix mobile jammer in all cars , is that too difficult. People get involved in talks and they forget to concentrate on driving and many life on the road is at risk. I have seen people riding bike with one hand while holding cellphone on other.

I agree that there should be a ban on using cellphones while driving but not a total ban. I do a lot of driving and I get messages and calls while driving but I don't answer them unless they are really important. It's also annoying when you are driving and the driver of the car in front of you is sending text messages and not concentrating on the road.
Though I agree with the ban, I think it would be ok if people would use hands-free devices to answer calls. I think the main reason why people get into accidents is because they have to look for their phones and then look at who's calling before they actually answer it. They lose focus on the road. If you use hands-free devices, then you could just press a button on your headset and start talking. You won't know who you are talking to but you could just ask.

It was proven that it is really one of the reasons of vehicular accidents. I agree on the politicians move. It should be banned, strictly banned, to avoid further increase in the number of vehicular accidents. Like banning drinking when driving.
Have a nice day joe!

I agree that texting for sure should be banned. I talk on the phone often enough while I'm driving and that's always been fine for me. But it's probably a good idea to put a stop to that anyhow. Every job I've ever had requires a lot of multitasking so I'm very good at it, but a lot of people get too into their conversations while driving. Four kids from my high school were also killed last year and they suspect the driver was texting at the time. I do not text while I drive, I used to and it's just not worth it. Occasionally I'll send a message while sitting at a stoplight, but that's usually not enough time for me, so I just wait til I get wherever I'm going.

Even though I have done it too, I do beleive they should ban people from driving and using cell phone.A mother in a big suv almost hit me while talking on her cell and didn't even care. She kept on talking and kept on driving. And that is not he first time I have almost been hit by someone not paying attention talking on the phone. So yeah good move.

yes, i agree with the ban imposed of using cell phones while driving.
most of the people turn their mind out of driving while busy talking on the phones and this lead to major accident on highways especially

I totally agree to this! Many car accidents are being brought about by texting while driving. Once, we are having a field trip together with my 60+ students and we almost had an accident just because our driver is on the phone texting other drivers while driving. Imagine! If luck was not on our side, then I don't know what would had happen back then. So, for those who are not in favor of putting a ban on texting while driving into law, think again!

Whenever I have to use my cellphone while driving, I either use the speakerphone or wait for a traffic stop if I have to text someone. I agree that cellphone use should be regulated while driving, not banned outright. For one thing, handsfree devices should be allowed (but then, some people have trouble with multi-tasking). Besides, we don't need a law to encourage people to limit phone use while driving; it should just be a matter of common sense.
