well, i am a passive smoker i never smoke so i don't know how hard to try to stop smoking. but i believe it's hard, otherwise every smoker will stop smoking once they know (and experience) the bad effect of smoking to their body, mental and economical condition. so, i always appreciate and support the smokers who try to stop smoking; and i understand if some smokers are still continuing their habit. above all, they are also human j/k
so, i think there is no reason to hate a smoker. some friends of mine are smokers and we are still friends of each other. i love them but i hate them blowing the smoke to my face. but i find may polite smokers, who always ask permission to smoke near by me, and never smoke in the 'no smoking' area. so, why should hate them.
and, iyah, i don't hate you

I'm trying to quit smoking too my friend. I try to lessen it one stick at a time. Just like you, when I try it I get a terrible headache. A smoker doesn't deserve to be hated. Specially those who are trying to quit. What these people have to do is to help a smoker in his goal of quitting. Goodluck friend. HUGZ!

Hi there iyah10
I don't think you deserve to be hated. I wouldn't like it much if you were smoking near kids though, but then it is up to me to move. It is your choice to smoke and choice if you want to give up or not. If people have a problem with you smoking then it is their problem and not yours because you clearly don't have a problem with it yourself!

You don't deserve to be hated any more then a drunk deserves to be hated or a gambler deserves to be hated or even an internet junkie deserves to be hated . Smoking is an addiction and one I know well because like you I am a smoker and would love to quit but get a headache and get edgy and cranky when I try to quit . I have been trying for years and have succeeded a couple of times only to fall back on smoking when something would upset my life . An addiction is something we all fight at some point in our lives weather it be as an addiction to junk food , gambling , over eating , drinking whatever but it is still an addiction . It seems the worst people of all to put down on a smoker are the ones who quit smoking themselves as if when they quit they forgot the struggle they went through for years themselves and feel that because they quit that you should just be able to do it as well . Doesn't matter if they smoked years before you started , they just feel somehow that they have the right to tell you that what you are doing is wrong and that you need to quit . Well yeah we know we need to quit but knowing and being able to give up the addiction are two completely different stories .
I wish you luck in being able to quit when you go to try again . It is hard . I have been trying for nineteen years now to quit and some day I hope to say I am a non smoker but when this happens I will remember my struggle and try very hard not to put others down until they are able to do it as well .

People do not hate you because you smoke, they hate you because you smoke in places that endangers their children or themselves. If you go and smoke outside a restaurant or a building or in a place where there is not any danger of the smoke being wafted in direction, they will not hate you. So that must be that or you insist in smoking in their homes. The solution is obvious.
Have you considered using a nicotine patch? I heard they are quite good.

My whole family smokes... I don't. Well, not really don't. There was a time I tried it. Then I grew up it became occasional. The thing is, I never bought my own pack and I never looked for one. I mean, there are times I want to and I will but I don't go looking for it. Unlike my sister who can't let a day pass without smoking. My dad went back to smoking too. I don't think you should be hated. That's just how it is.

You don't deserve that treatment. I used to smoke and i am thankful that i dodn't have any problems when i quitted although there are some minor problems like cough and all that but of course that is normal. I really think you can quit smoking too. Just think of the persons who surrounds you and loves you, would you want them to suffer i mean we all know the consequences of smoking, just make you loves one a motivating factor for you to stop smoking, I am sure you can do it. Good luck and happy mylotting!

Of course not! You don't deserve to be hated at all.
I'm not a smoker and I have friends who smoke. I tell them from time to time that it's not good for their health but I never hated them. That's just how they are and I've learned to accept that.
I really hope you can quit smoking successfully. Good luck! ;D

I am a smoker, but my quit date is next week. No smoker deserves to be hated. That is the lifestyle we/they chose- no one else chose it for them. If someone was overeating, would people hate them because they've had a lot food? No. It's a lifestyle choice, and every one is human, and they deserve to have that right.

I think nobody deserves to be hated but sometimes smokers are selfish. I used to smoke and I stopped smoking when I got pregnant. When I stopped smoking I realized that smokers are selfish because we dont care if we are bothering somebody when we smoke. Our "necessity" to smoke doesnt let us care for others. Now that I'm not a smoker anymore I can see how selfish I was when I used to smoke in front of others and how bad I used to smell! hahaha. I think I would be still smoking if it wasnt for my pregnancy. The love from a mother makes anything possible.

I haven't tried smoking since I'm afraid I might get addicted to it. You have your freedom to smoke, just be considerate as well the health of the people around you. I don't know how difficult it is to quit something you got used to, all I'm sure is its hard but with the support, motivation and your will not to ruin your health is I think enough to make you quit.
You can do it! Take it slow and I know you will get there.

i dont smoke and neither do i like smokers (hate is just not the right word). i have asthma, and i really have trouble breathing in that smoke so i really feel that my right to breath clean air is being taken away when a person just sit near me, or in the same room i am sitting, let it be a restaurant or bus etc. i dont mind people smoking in alone, away from others, as they are minding their own business without harming the others.
smoking kills.

Sometimes i hate smokers who just puff even there is non smokers at his side or front and in that situation i hate smokers, smokers should have to give consideration to non smokers, I have friends who are smokers and i dont hate them.
Smokers and non-smokers need to understand each other, here in my workplace, you cannot smoke in any place, they alloted smoking area as a consideration for non smokers

Well, there's no huge reasons to hate smokers. If they're good people, why hate them?
As long as they're smoking in proper areas, not in hospitals and at schools with minors.
My dad is a heavy smoker, and that has cost him his health. He's got a so far uncured lung disease. And he goes on medicine. The disease makes it hard for him to breath, and just a short walk is like a long jogging pass.
Good luck with quit smoking.
I think it's great that you're trying to do something about it :)
Have a nice day!

Smoking is a choice. As much as people are trying to make it illegal as of now it isn't. There are polite smokers and there are rude smokers the same as polite and rude non-smokers. I love it when I see a non-smoker walk by a smoking area waving their hand in their face and looking at the smokers like they have four heads or something. To those I say if you don't like it don't walk this way. I have also seen smokers light up in a designated NO SMOKING zone and whine becasue they get called on it. Well don't push your bad habits down others throats. Bottom line is respect one another!

Smokers shouldn't be hated - my sisters and my mom all smoke and I don't hate them. I do hate inconsiderate smokers - those who willingly smoke where it's prohibited or downright blow smoke in your face just to be rude.
If you need help, there's a lot of resources for you on the web and products like nicotine gum and patches.
