Death or life imprisonment

Should criminal be killed or they should be imprisoned for life??

I'm not really sure on that issue because if you kill a criminal, does'nt that make you just as bad as the criminal? Then if you imprison them for life, they still get to do everything we get to do out of jail except they have less freedom. What do you think should be done?
