Iwas a chain smoker, smoking 60 cigarettes a day. I gave up smoking over night and did not touch cigarettes for 10 years.

I've never tried smoking and I don't plan on trying it but I have a friend who used to be a chain smoker and with great discipline, he slowly eliminates his smoking habit. According to him, if anyone is planning on quitting smoking, he must do it gradually to avoid the development of any diseases brought about by excessive smoking and also he will not feel withdrawal symptoms.

I just quit overnight. There were no side effects but then I started eating more to compensate for the urge to smoke. I gained 25 pounds in 6 months. I have now gradually stabilised my weight and am quite athletic and fit though not thin, not fat either.

It completely depends on the nature of the person. If the person is can control his smokin habbit, then its easy. But if someone is far addicted and have very little self control over his habbits then he cant stop it.

i am a smoker, not as bad as you were though... :P and i believe it is not hard to stop. i have stopped it before, and after four years i began again with this bad habit. i am about to give it up soon. :) i just dont want to do it now.. haha.. well i still have reasons why. and a doctor even allowed me because of my condition.
it is great that you have stopped it. i'll be joining the league pretty soon. :)
