You know, muslims keep roza, i.e. fast in the month of Ramzan. They do not eat anything even don't take water till the sun set.Have you ever done that? how does it feel?

I have fasted for charity before, 4 times, i have not gone without water though as that is dangerous. I did a sponsored silence and a sponsored fast on the same day!

Soon, the Jewish Holy Days will begin. Fasting is part of Kippor, and I have always observed it. I find it in no way uncomfortable, I guess because I'm in the synagogue participating in the service for most of the day. Every year, I wonder whether I should do it on a regular basis, as a weight-loss measure!
