Ever make a choice that may have saved your life?

Have you ever had a time where you knew something bad could have/would have happened if you had made a different choice? I was thinking about a specific day many years ago. I was 11 and had just got out of basketball practice. It was getting close to 7:30 and was fairly dark. I had to run up a hill to catch the bus home. I saw the bus pulling up to the bus stop, but he pulled away before I got up the hill. I started crying and saw a headlight approaching. A guy pulled over on his motorcycle. He had a helmet on and asked me why I was by myself. I told him I missed my bus. He said he would give me a ride, and asked if I trusted him. I didn't answer. He said he had a friend down the street. We could go to his house and call my mom to let her know I would be late. He asked again if I trusted him. A few seconds later, I saw my mom's car pull up. The guy drove away. I don't know what his intentions were, but I get creeped out when I think about the possibilities. My mom wasn't supposed to pick me up that day. I am not sure what made her drive down to get me, but am glad she did, and am glad I didn't get on the back of that motorcycle. Have you ever made a choice that may have saved your life?
