I think most of us, especially in the US, have the choice to read the Bible or another book on a daily basis. Many of us do read the Bible daily in addition to other books. Many of us read to escape the little, or big, things that annoy us in our comfortable lives. Many people, I know, recite Bible verses to themselves when they are busy or just occupied. Personally, I read many kinds of books - cookbooks to light romance to professional journals. My reading material is chosen by personal duties as well as the time available. There are Bible editions that are written in 20th century language if someone wants to read God's Word in an easier-to-understand language.

Hi retiredrdh.
Thanks for your response. I don't really like to read anything myself. Boring you may say but I still read online stuff a bit.

Well it certainly wouldn't be either Shakespeare or the Bible, I like nice easy reads, reads I can get my teeth into and enjoy, and escape too, my favourite book is The Beach by Alex Garland, based on the film of the same name, it's a wonderful read and just whisks you away from the humdrum normal day life to a beach, you could actually imagine yourself there, sandy beach, beautiful ocean, bliss! That is the kind of book I would chose everytime!

Hi wolfie34
Thanks for your response. Just so you know the Bible was only an example not a suggestion.

I read mostly science fiction and non-fiction. Once in a while, I'll read fantasy or something like Ann Rice or Stephen King. I like mostly books that teach me new things and make me think. Entertainment is for when I'm just too tired to concentrate.
