after the halloween, that's the best time to decorate when you're already inspired to do so... doing it so early can also make your house boring cause imagine seeing same decors for 3 months? do it at least a week before December...

My family has always done it the day after Thanksgiving but I have been doing it the night before Thanksgiving so everything is decorated for the Thanksgiving dinner.

We usually decorate on Thanksgiving day, while the dinner cooks, and then take it all down Christmas day, again while the dinner cooks. When the kids were young it gave them more room to play with the new toys, and now that they are older, they like having it cleaned up so we can play a board game or something after dinner.

We put up our Christmas tree on the day OF Thanksgiving or the day after. Usually, it depends on how much energy we truly want to put into putting up a 7 foot Christmas tree. Since it is an artificial tree (we have allergies), it can take quite a long time if only two people are doing it and you have distractions. Then, we usually take down the decorations the first or second week of January. I love the feeling that Christmas brings, so I try to make sure I keep them up a little while longer.

We usually start putting up Christmas lights and decorations during the last week of November. The Christmas tree, however, goes up during the first or second week of December. We usually take down the Christmas tree a few days after New Year's Day. The rest of the decorations though, we don't really take down. The lights, we do but some of the other decorations look pretty good even if it's not Christmas.

I'd like to say I wait until two weeks before Christmas, but lately I've been doing it sooner. It's just so much work! This year I'm going to hold out for the two week mark. It really does make it so much more special if the decorations are only out for a limited amount of time.
