Do you think board games will ever be as popular as they used to be?

I mean, with the advent of video games and all these types of things, will just sitting down with your family and playing Monopoly or Scrabble be popular again?

Actually, I see the opposite happening. Monopoly, Risk, Life, Trivial Pursuit and other games have been big sellers for decades, but what is the average life expectancy of a video game? A couple of years, maybe?
There are exceptions, but for the most part, video games don't have near the staying power of board and table top games.

That is true. The speed at which the video game world is progressing is almost a curse upon itself, due to the fact that in order to get new versions of games, you are forced to shell out another $500 for a new system.

I am an avid fan of board games and computer games as well. Though I think there are lots to learn playing board games, the trend is really on computer games. But board games are also being applied already using computer online gaming. I mean you can play Scrabble in a network environment. I remember when I was still working in the office, I used to play with my bosses Scrabble during our lunchtime. At home, it will be more difficult since you have to have so many computers before you can play with each member of the family or you have to have laptops of your own. That's pretty expensive.
